Question on a long filename
Hi,
How many characters of the file name can be transferred thru rsync?
255? I am running rsync on solaris 5.8 machine, I got the following
error messages:
ERROR: dsync: dsync1:/import/data/ to dsync2:/import/data2/
mkstemp failed: File name too long
rsync error: partial transfer (code 23) at main.c(578)
The filename in that directory is over 220 characters, is there

dsync mbox->mdbox: Unexpectedly lost From-line and other issues from a big conversion.
Hi,
I'm trying to convert a 33GB mail store from mbox to compressed mdbox
(largest mbox is 2.7GB). The source store is live, e.g. there are mails
delivered into it and mails are being read. Actually it is my own
mail. :)
Although my test runs were very successful I have run into trouble with
the first run on the whole store. After fighting a bit around with
errors like

sieve cli
i am using dovecot-2.2.36-3.el7_7.1.x86_64 on centos 7
is it possible to activate / deactivate a sieve script for a mailbox
from the command line?
my mailboxes are currently stores in /../vmail/domain.tld/username
if i activate / deactivate a filter set using roundcube (webmail system)
then it creates or deletes a symbolic link
/../vmail/domain.tld/username/dovecot.sieve? which points to a

Stopping login via "nologin" parameter
Hello,
I have a basic e-mail server with Postfix 3.1 and Dovecot 2.2.22.
I am using a passwd-file for both userdb and passdb:
/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf
userdb {
driver = passwd-file
args = /etc/dovecot/passwd
}
passdb {
driver = passwd-file
args = /etc/dovecot/passwd
}
}
In the passwd file, I want to have

dovecot quota-warning detection mail
Morikawa,
What do you mean by "logged-in user"?
%u stands for the username.
If, for an example, user "morikawa" exists in your dovecot server (I mean as local user), your quota warning configuration should be fine.
But if user "morikawa" does not exist in your server, and, dovecot can't resolve the username to the mail address, then the quota warning mail be

Replication sieve scripts.
Hello,
Are you sure about that I would need so recent version? That is ok to
have some bugfixes but you are talking about the latest cutting edge
debian jessie backports package.
Even the mainline debian jessie only have 2.2.13 in it and my system is
a complex wheezy installation, the last thing I want to do is to move
all my components into jessie just because of this or do you know

Sieve scripts not triggered on IMAP inbound messages using IMAPC
Good morning.
I am using Dovecot as an IMAP proxy -- using IMAPC -- and the system is
working great. Thank you for contributing such great software to the
community!
I'm using Dovcot 2.3.5 and Pigeonhole 0.5.5.
My server is located behind a content-filtering firewall that will mark
incoming messages by adding "[SPAM]" to the subject line. I'm trying to use

Two domains - same user names filter
Hi,
I have two LDAP domains, which has some equal users, eg:
abc at domain1.com
abc at domain2.com
I sat up this config:
domain1 users maildirs are stored in /home/vmail/username
domain2 users maildirs are stored in /home/vmail/domain2/username
This works fine except one thing: i cant set up the ldap query to choose
the correct maildir if the user names are equal.
Is it possible to use a

Fwd: Some mails do not get replicated anymore after memory-exhaust
Hey guys,
overall I have an working dovecot replication between 2 servers running on
amazon cloud. Sadly I had some messages that my server ran out of memory.
After investigating a little bit further I realized that some mails didn't
got replicated, but I'm not sure if this was related to the memory exhaust.
I was expecting that the full-sync would catch them up but sadly it's not.

dovecot quota-warning detection mail
Hi, all.
we use quota-warning emails to notify you of quotas.
In rare cases, the email address has changed to the logged-in user.
(Because the address of %u is passed as the logged-in user.)
So I couldn?t send the email with ?Recipient address rejected: User
unknown in local recipient table?.
Why does my email address change to a logged-in user?
%u of "quota_warning = storage = 95 %%

sievec - manual compile of global sieve scripts?
How do you compile global scripts using the sievec command without
making the script directory owned (and group writable) by the vmail user?
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Pigeonhole/Sieve/Usage

# (edit some script like spam.sieve that runs for everyone)
# /usr/local/bin/sievec spam.sieve spam.svbin

dsync replication available for testing
In dovecot-2.1 hg you can now test dsync-based replication. Everything
isn't finished yet, but it appears to work and I've enabled it for my
@dovecot.fi mails. Some issues:
- public namespace isn't replicated at all
- shared namespace is replicated, but not private mail flags
- I've only tested SSH replication setup now, not director replication
setup (and director setup

dict Panic after upgrade to 2.1.7
Hello,
after upgrade my mailsystem to dovecot version 2.1.7, dovecot doesn't work
properly. something went wrong in dict service connecting the postgres
backend. that happens not on every connection. the db connection data are
correct, no difference connecting via tcp or linux socket.
dovecot log entries:
