multi-instance doveadm user -m woes
I'm having difficulty with the doveadm who command on a multi-instance setup of dovecot. When I run the who command on the non-standard instance with the -m flag (to see their mail location), this happens:
[root at wardentest3 dovecot]# doveadm -i mailtest user -m warden

stats + fts squat plugins, indexer-worker error on message indexing
On RHEL 6.2 + dovecot 2.1.5 with the stats and fts (squat) plugins enabled and each user having their own uid on the system I get the following error in the logs when the indexer-worker process indexes some messages:

doveadm "-S <socket_path>" option enabled in 2.0.8?
I apologize if this is a stupid question but I just compiled 2.0.8 and am trying to use doveadm to get the quota for a user using the -S <socket_path> option because I have different options for the various local IPs that dovecot listens on.
For example, my default quota is filesystem (NFS rquota) and I can get that by doing:
doveadm quota get -u warden
which tells me:

Dovecot 0.99.11 config
I am at wits end...So far it seems dovecot is light years ahead of UW-IMAP. Glad to have UW-IMAP behind me...well almost.
My setup = Sendmail 8.13.4 with Procmail delivery to /var/spool/mail/<userfile>
openssl 0.9.8
dovecot 0.99.11
I want to continue to use the standard mbox with all the user's mail stored in /var/spool/mail/<userfile>.

luck. I'm getting the following:

Sharing user folders doesn't work when users have periods in names.
I am using period as an IMAP separator with Maildir directories and I
cannot share folders where the user has a period in their name.
Suppose I log in as 'some.user' and do:
SETACL INBOX mailtest at example.co.uk +lrwstipekxacd
/var/mail/virtual/users/some.user/Maildir/dovecot-acl is created, with
appropriate contents and shared-mailboxes.db gains an entry for

Errors on mbox to Maildir conversion
I have Julian Fitzell's migrateuser.sh script which uses mb2md-3.20.pl
to convert a mailbox in mbox format to Maildir.
I have set up a test user called "mailtest" which has mail as follows:
/var/mail/mailtest
/home/mailtest/mail/
Drafts
MoreStuff
Sent Items
Stuff
After the conversion I want all this user's mail to be in
/home/mailtest/Maildir/

Static userdb with LDAP passdb but without "allow_all_users=yes"?
Hi,
Is it possible to have a static user database along with an LDAP
password database and *not* be forced to set "allow_all_users=yes" for
the userdb?
The wiki page on static user database says "Normally static userdb
handles this by doing a passdb lookup instead." How should the passdb
behave in order for this to work?
In my tests (on a test server) I am using

LDA crashes on delivery (using sieve)
Hello,
The current version of LDA can crash (seg fault 11) under certain
circumstances.
I don't know why it happens only with some accounts, but here is a
backtrace. The user has a sieve filter in place :

Dovecot setup fails w. multiple mail locations (gnus/dovecot/offlineimap)
Hi,
I am trying to setup a Gnus - Dovecot - Offlineimap - Webmail (Gmail /
Fastmail) chain and cannot configure the correct behaviour.
Any advice to get this working properly would be very appreciated!
I have set up Offlineimap to synchronise two mail accounts into separate
folders under ~/Maildir. After running Offlineimap, the folders look as
below.

Making rsync compile under Mac OS X 10.3.9 with extended attributes
Somebody knows if it's possible to compile rsync (version 3 would be
great, but can be 2.6.x) under Mac OS X 10.3.9 with extended attributes?
Under OS 10.3.9 the Apple shipped rsync have not yet the -E argument
option. RsyncX have a double free bug that is annoying. "Q" rsync
2.6.6 with extended attributes binary only works on 10.4 and above.
I have tried to compile rsync
