Can?t dovecot authenticate against imap?
What I need is to make smtp authentication balanced and keep everything in backend (private network)

postfix sasl -> haproxy -> dovecot auth
I will install cyrus-sasl and see how it goes.
Anyway, it would be nice to have same features (authentication agains imap) in dovecot.

postfix sasl -> haproxy -> dovecot auth
I don?t want to allow public network facing servers to be able to reach passwords database. And I want to segregate roles of the servers.
If I will setup dovecot locally I will still have to provide it access to database (eg. /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf.ext).

configure cyrus-sasl as a remote imap client is more simple
if imap hostname is dns round robin it would be ha-avail already

Why don't you set up a dovecot locally (with only auth service) on each
postfix box?

dovecot is not a smtp server, thats why i say cyrus-sasl
yes cyrus-sasl is ha-awail with rimap, but there is a minor problem with
it, haproxy and rimap have both the

Hierarchy separator recommendation?
The dot '.' will work, but I suggest to follow documentation here:
https://wiki1.dovecot.org/Namespaces,
And it says:
A commonly used separator is '/'. It probably causes the least amount of
trouble with different IMAP clients
And I already had problems using '.' as a namespace separator.

Quotas not working after reboot
Hello,
after rebooting my dovecot server quotas are no longer working.
# dovecot --version
2.2.10
CentOS Linux release 7.0.1406
It is strange that restarting dovecot did not reveal this problem, but rebooting whole server did.
Before reboot it was like this:
# doveadm -D quota get -u test1 at testdomain1.tld
doveadm(root): Debug: Loading modules from directory: /usr/lib64/dovecot

Quota questions
Hi all,
I?m a little bit confused about the quota plugin in dovecot and fighting the the issues the people had years ago. I spent readingg the old archives and the mailing list for 3 days and not able to get work some features. Single user quota is fine and simple, the group quota /for example domain based/ makes me unhappy.
Setup: CentOS7, dovecot comunity repo, dovecot 2.3.5
1) domain quota

SELinux denies haproxy
Hi all,
I'm load balancing 4 mysql databases using HAProxy. The setup seems to be
working pretty well. Except I keep seeing these messages turning up in

haproxy ssl support
Even though it seems dovecot (using 2.2.33.1) supports haproxy's
send-proxy-v2, it seems to lack send-proxy-v2-ssl (which also sends
client's ssl state). It would be a nice feature for the backend server
to identify clients so one wouldn't have to use disable_plaintext_auth
on a production environment.
