Authenticating Virtual Users without domain
Hi, I'm trying to migrate a large number of users to a new Dovecot cluster. The existing mail system allows a user to authenticate with a bare username if they have connected to the correct local IP on the server. e.g. imap.somedomain.com = 1.1.1.1 imap.anotheromain.com = 2.2.2.2 charlie at somedomain can authnenticate as 'charlie' or 'charlie at somedomain.com' as long as

Sending audio to a channel
I have a voicemail application that users can listen to messages and leave messages. I am looking for a way to play a beep tone to a user when a new message is received when they are on the phone. Here is what I have come up with: in extensions.conf: [beepvoicemail] exten => 1000,1,answer() exten => 1000,2,NoCDR() exten => 1000,3,wait(2) exten => 1000,4,Set(TIMEOUT(absolute)=5)

example sql acl_shared_dict wiki
Hi Timo, wiki says --------- Shared mailbox listing ..... You could use any dictionary backend, such as SQL or Berkeley DB, but a simple flat file should work pretty well too: plugin { acl_shared_dict = file:/var/lib/dovecot/shared-mailboxes.db } .... -------- could you include an example for having acl_shared_dict in sql ? -- Best Regards MfG Robert Schetterer Germany/Munich/Bavaria

Have "system"/Hunspell dictionaries stopped working in CentOS 7 Firefox?
Until quite recently, multiple spell-checker languages were available in Firefox on my CentOS 7 system. (They could be selected from "Languages" under the right-click menu in text boxes.) After a recent system upgrade, there is only "English (United States)". I don't think I had installed any extra Firefox dictionaries as such, but the "global" spell-checking

aspell(..., dictionaries) incorrectly passes double-quoted arguments via shell() [and a patch]
Hi, I think I found a bug in aspell() on Windows. Specifying argument 'dictionaries' for aspell() does not work on Windows, which I believe is because it tries to pass a quoted command line option via shell(). THIS WORKS: # Create a text file to be spell checked > writeLines(c("Hello", "world", "ANOVA"), con="text.txt") # Check it (word

Having less languages in Firefox (hunspell dictionaries provide too many locales)
Hello, on CentOS 6, I am routinely writing mails in English, German and French and using the related hunspell dictionaries for the spelling in Firefox (I'm using Google Apps). This works fine but the problem is that languages are added for all the possible locales (English US, UK, Philippines, Bostwana, Trinidad and Tobago, Denmark (sic!), ... and German Germany, Austria... and French

Shared mailboxes setups and dictionaries
Hello, I am relatively new to the world of MTAs and MDAs, and I try to set up shared mailboxes. So far I have somehow succeeded - I have defined a shared namespace and I have managed to create per-mailbox ACL files thanks to the doveadm command. However, I have been following these resources and there were bits that have puzzled me: When learning about how ACL work in e.g.

RFC: Bug-closing protocol
Isn't svn set up to auto-parse and post to the bug so you can just say "fixes bug 44444" and it parses it out? I mean, i added that to gcc like 15 years ago, i'm surprised we don't do this :) Nobody should have to add this info manually unless someone forgot to put it in a commit message. RFC: Bug-closing protocol
TL;DR: It's okay to close a bug, if you can justify it properly. Recently there has been a spate of bug-closing with what I would call inadequate documentation. Comments such as "Obsolete?" or "I assume it's fixed" could be applied to nearly every open bug we have. While this does reduce the open bug count--something I have been watching with morbid fascination

Authdb NSS module
Hello! Upgrading manual tells that authdb [NSS module was removed][1] some time ago. [1]: https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Upgrading/2.3#line-100 > userdb nss was removed. Use userdb passwd instead. Can this change be reverted? I'd like to use only libnss_sss.so.2 as dovecot userdb source. It's also essential for me to enable files backend in nsswitch.conf so the system could use local

RFC: Bug-closing protocol
https://gcc.gnu.org/viewvc/gcc/hooks/ is how it was done. This used the incoming email handling for bugzilla i set up. These days, you could just use bugzilla's rest API IE a simple variant of https://github.com/mozilla/github-bugzilla-pr-linker/blob/master/app/app.py should work as a commit hook. That thing is written as a service, you just need the find/add parts of the rest api, rip
