Steffen)
Now I try to log in with the user johndoe (that is his cn and his uid) and
i get the following message in syslog:

Dovecot & LDAP Take #2: Authentication failed and logging
Hi there,
after banging my head against a wall for a bit I got more indepth with
dovecot and am now much more knowledgeable about the system than before.
But I still have two problems:
1.) For some reason my dovecot doesnt log correctly. I put debug_log to -1
and expected to see logs flooding in in my syslog. When I try to log in via
telnet over imap and the login succeeds it loggs correctly.

Freebsd 3.5->4 New Server Profile Paths Lost
I am migrating a Freebsd 8.2 Samba 3.5.11 system to Freebsd 9.1 Samba
4.0.4. I copied over all of the users home directories, local accounts,
and the tdb files. I ran the classic upgrade tool, got the server up and
running, and users could login however they were on fresh local profiles
rather than roaming profiles.
In the log file for the station, I found the following message

acl and lazy_expunge plugins are incompatible?
Hello list.
Following two previous unanswered requests
(http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2014-August/097449.html and
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2014-May/096261.html), I fell into the
same problem: ACL and lazy_expunge plugins do not work together.
I had lazy_expunge enabled working OK. Then I activated ACL plugin, and gave

Dovecot 2 LDAP "unknown user"
Hi All
I am using Dovecot dovecot2-2.2.25_6 on FreeBSD 11. I am trying to set up
LDAP authentication to Active Director as I had it in version 1 of Dovecot.
My settings are at bottom. When I run doveadm auth test username, I get
back
root at BSD-11:/usr/local/etc/dovecot # doveadm auth test username
Password:
passdb: user auth succeeded

[BUG] Re: auth_bind with "()" in username not working
Hi guys,
I had a look in the sources about this problem.
the problem seems to be the ldap_escape function that is called from
ldap_verify_plain_auth_bind_userdn(..)
I dont really know if this escaping is needed at this point, but with
this change it works for me. No other problems discovered so far.
could somebody, who is deeper in the sources give me a hint if
this will make some troubles?

Dovecot 2 LDAP "unknown user"
Thanks for your reply again Steffen.
The command doveadm user -u username successfully returns the username and
any information it can for the user in AD. As a matter of fact, I entered
some home directory information in AD and this command returned the User's
Home Directory as well. Is it a problem though that the telnet test won't
work?

Configuration of dovecot 2.0.19 to authenticate users via LDAP
I am trying to get dovecot 2.0.19 authenticate users via LDAP (OpenLDAP
2.4.28) and using Wireshark to debug the process. It looks like the basic
configuration of dovecot is fine, but it doesn't pull it off to send the
right request to the LDAP server. First of all, this is how my LDAP-entries
look:
# ht
dn: dc=ht
objectClass: top
objectClass: dcObject

Dovecot 2.2.1 LDA and sieve (lack of) errors
Hello again, all. Of course after posting yesterday that all was well
with my setup, turns out all is not well. The problem I'm having is with
dovecot-lda functioning and making deliveries to my mailbox, but the
sieve scripts don't seem to have any effect. Attempts at logging what
is/isn't happening have been total failures.
Managesieve seems to work fine, port 4190 is open on the

Then it is the old password, and you have other issues you need to sort
out.

object storage

Interesting. So che choice for object storage is driven by the number of
accounts rather than the amount of data stored? For example I am heading
towards 10 TB online with "just" 10k users. It wouldn't be worth?

domain users "primary group" does not take effect in UNIX attributes (NIS)
Hello list,
using AD with rfc2307 provisioned and NIS extensions are available. In ADUC tool I choose the group "Domain Admins" and click on the [UNIX Attributes] tab. I activate it for my domain and choose the GID=500. When I execute on my member server "net cache flush && getent group 500" I get the result

How to Delete an user and Purge attachements with a common directory mail_attachment_dir with SIS for all users.
Hello everybody,
What is the best way to delete an user mailbox (ex:
/var/mail/johndoe ) when all attachments (for all users) are in a
common directory with SIS deduplication (ex: mail_attachment_dir =
/var/mail/attachments ) ?
Trying to delete user mailbox directory (rm) and do the command :
doveadm -v purge -u johndoe leave all johndoe's attachments orphelin.
