/etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem erased by OpenSuse's update mechanism
This directory in later times is where more and more distros are putting system wide server CA type certs, most distros are moving to this path, so the package maintainer should fix their script, maybe to /etc/ssl/private or such. Why not /etc/dovecot/private? That's where I put my dovecot certs. Dovecot's needs are a bit different from other software, and so it is unclear whether the files won't be unique to it. For example, I haven't seen the following before I read it on the Dovecot wiki: "The CA file should contain the certificate(s) followed by the matching CRL(s). Note that the CRLs are required

Thanks for the note. I had never seen anything in the postfix and apache documentation that the CRLs could be intermingled with the CRTs in the CRT file. The documentation for those programs suggests putting the CRLs in a separate file (e.g. apache SSLCARevocationFile) or doesn't talk about putting CRLs in with the certs (e.g. postfix smtpd_tls_cert_file). If it works to put them all in one

How do I compute interactions with anova.mlm ?
Hi, I wish to compute multivariate test statistics for a within-subjects repeated measures design with anova.mlm. This works great if I only have two factors, but I don't know how to compute interactions with more than two factors. I suspect, I have to create a new "grouping" factor and then test with this factor to get these interactions (as it is hinted in R News 2007/2), but

RODBC and 64 bit
Hi all, I was quite succesfully working with the RODB package on a 32 bit linux box to connect to a MSSQL Server via the freeTSL driver. After changing to a 64 bit environment I ran into some segmentation faults using function sqlUpdate on large database operations (the actual seg faults occured in the call to the C function ODBCUpdate). I just briefly looked into the code and found some extensive

rerender tcltk toplevel
Hi everybody, I am trying to write a simple progress display based on a tcltk toplevel. My first approach was to use the progressBar widget from the BWidget library but since this is not available on every system (missing on at least almost all windows systems, I guess...) I wanted to have a backup there. So my second strategy was to use a simple toplevel with a label and update the tclvariable

Hi, i have a strange situation: A domain is still running where domblklist points to a snapshot file and also dumpxml says the current drive is that snapshot file. But the file has been deleted hours ago. And the domain is still running. I can login via ssh, the database and the webserver are still running, domain is performant. How can that be ? Also lsof shows that the file is deleted:

Trying to recover erased logs
Hi, I''ve had several people ask me about a comment I made in a previous post; <quote> Dan, firstly, if you haven''t touched the compromised system much, do a "dd" across the raw disk and grep it for log fragments. I have seen vital erased logs recovered this way before! </quote> I shall try and explain a bit more! If an attacker erases, or truncates a

GO & Protein Complex Analysis for Homo sapiens
Dear All, I need to fetch GO ontologies for Homo sapiens with their mappings to corresponding Uniprot identifiers. I would be using this information to compare result from a clustering algorithm with existing protein complexes. This would be a test to check how the clustering algorithm accurately captures GO terms with respect to the known protein complexes. Can anyone suggest a simple workflow

RODBC problems
Hello, I successfully used RODBC very frequently, but after having updatetd to R 6.0.2, the current RODBC-Version gives me some problems. After connecting to my Oracle-Database via odbcConnect("") (or the necessary information) I receive a much longer output than usual: RODB Connection 0 Details: case=nochange DRIVER={Oracle in OraHome90} ... with all the details.
