examples of shared shared-mailboxes.db
Hi Kevin,
You don't put anything into it by yourself.
This file only helps Dovecot to lookup shares to prevent iterating
through every users mailbox.
When you create a share, Dovecot places a plain-text entry inside this
file. When a user logs in, Dovecot asks its acl "database" in whose mail
directory it should look for a share.
An entry could look like this:

examples of shared shared-mailboxes.db
Dear Andre,
Thanks for yr reply.
What do i include in the file shared-mailboxes.db ?
As in the input. Is it really plain text ?
So for example i write into the file shared-mailbox.db :-
shared at domain.net
shared2 at domain.net etc...
Is it like that or what kind of syntax needs to be used?

managesieve / sieve - append dot prefix on moving mails into folder
Hello mailinglist-subscribers,
i have an issue with the managesieve / sieve plugin in dovecot.
We use roundcube as webmailer and if i define a new filter to move
incoming mails directly into a subfolder i get the following sieve-code:
require ["fileinto","imap4flags"];
# rule:[mail into folder]
if allof (header :contains "from" "sender at domain.org")

IMAP: Get rid of non-existent folders below INBOX
Hi,
I am using Debian Sarge w/ dovecot-imapd package 0.99.14-1. Squirrelmail
created three folders below INBOX, Drafts/Sent/Trash, that I already had
elsewhere. Thus, I deleted them (through SqM).
However, both Thunderbird and Squirrelmail still show these folders
anyway. When I select them, I keep getting "Mailbox does not exist"
errors. I already tried to move all .imap.index* files

how to setup a simplest travel-mode read-only IMAP
Hi All,
I don't use gmail/hotmail etc...
I have been a Mozilla/SeaMonkey/Thunderbird user for ever now...
The mail and folders are all on my private fileserver.
But on certain tours, I do know in advance that I would like IMAP access
to my mail folders.
Nothing but the simplest read-only access to the years of accumulated email.
(All that email was soft-mounted onto /mnt/mail for safety and

Hi,
that looks correct. I am not sure if this was necessary, but I "touched"
the file before starting Dovecot...
You also need to have the correct permissions set.

Migrate mailbox from NFS folder to new NFS folder
Hi everyone,
I need to migrate many user mailboxes from an NFS folder to a new NFS
folder, both mounted on the same Dovecot server (2.2.27).
Once migrated, users will connect to a new Dovecot server (2.3.4.1).
I would like to know how to use /doveadm backup/ (or sync?) instead of
/rsync/ as I noted that after migration with rsync I have duplicates and
some e-mails marked as unread.

If a user has this folder (`Spam') it works fine. If they haven't it
results in an error.

iPhone/iPad IMAP connection bursts causes user+IP exceeded
Apologies for bumping Joseph Tam's rather old thread, but I'm wondering
if anyone has come up with a workaround/fix for this problem that iOS
Mail.app clients (10.3.3, 11.0.3, 11.1?) continue to exhibit?

IMAP ALERT on reason/nologin
Hello everyone,
Some dovecot versions (years!) ago. I've made a rather complicated SQL
query that verified some conditions during the SQL passdb checking and
returned the usual parameters or "nologin" field signalling some account
problem and a text on the "reason" field that were shown to the user
telling him the reason of being rejected the login.
