Samba4 DC/AD documents created in redirected folders with bogus UID
I just noticed that my fresh install of Samba 4.2.3 has the same behaviour. I have a share (\\samba\it_share)) and some users when creating files have the UID as 3000000 and some have their correct UIDs. Share permissons are being controlled by Windows ACLs. Samba4 DC/AD documents created in redirected folders with bogus UID
My up-front apologies if this topic has been covered. This is my first time using this list and I don't know how to search for existing topics yet ... I installed Samba4 on Linux Slackware 64 version 14.1 about 6 months ago. I set up redirected folders for the Windows 7 Workstation users. All worked fine until recently. Now, when several of the users create documents and folders on their

Redirected Folders not working for Desktop
Well, I've just added another directory to not make the redirected folders a the root. And, Favorites and Documents do work. Goog suggestion to check the Windows event viewer. I'll do that and get back with what I find. Thanks, --Mark -----Original Message----- > To: samba at lists.samba.org > From: James <lingpanda101 at gmail.com> > Date: Tue, 1 Sep 2015 08:14:06 -0400

Need IP on failed logins in logfile
I used to also get related log messages of the form: auth_check_password_send: Checking password for unmapped user [HPRS]\[mark]@[ROVER] auth_check_password_send: mapped user is: [HPRS]\[mark]@[ROVER] but now all I get is the auth_check_password_recv in the log. Perhaps the change is due to an upgrade to Samba, or perhaps a change I made to my smb.conf log options? (see log config in my

How to "Windows Authenticate"
I am running Dovecot 2.2.15 on Linux Slackware 14.1 and Samba 4.1.17 as the Active Directory/Domain Controller on the same host as Dovecot. Sendmail/procmail delivers mail to users' $HOME/Maildir. MS Outlook/IMAP is the client MTU used to connect with Dovecot to read mail on the Users' WIN7 workstations. I believe I have confirmed that MS Outlook will either ... 1) send the userid and

After trying all the suggestions in the below listed excerpts from this thread, I've taken time since my last posting on January 6th to continue this issue with the Microsoft forum: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1480474/unable-to-time-sync-with-domain-controller?page=1&orderby=helpful&comment=answer-1411748#newest-answer-comment I likewise had no solution

Looking for NTLM config example
Now that I am running Thunderbird on Linux and away from Windows/Outlook, I'd like to take another run at setting up NTLM authentication from Thunderbird to my Samba4 AC/DC. With the help of the samba maillist folks I was able to set up NTLM authentication for domain user login. I should be able to do the same for email! But, I need help. I went to

You think ntp works with samba but it doesn?t. You *must* use chrony. It will take you exactly 5 minutes to get it up and running. Luis, I had mentioned that I first provisioned a Samba4 DC 10 years ago when migrating from Windows Small Business Server. At that time I did try, Zental and Debian before Slackware. Back then Debian did not work well. I had to install lots of additional packages and things like Microsoft Update and Remote Desktop just wouldn't work. I spent months trying various things. I started over with

Also it seems we lack support for NTLMv2. If you want to use NTLM you need to permit use of NTLM(v1), which is usually not enabled by default. I have the impression your DC?s ntp server is not working properly for whatever reason. Your windows machines try to grab time for them, can?t, and then default to local coms clock or some other time source. From a windows member machine, can you try : w32tm /stripchart /computer:us.pool.ntp.org /dataonly /samples:5 That should work. Then try: w32tm /stripchart /computer:your.dc.address

NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED: Access denied (0xc0000022)
I have a Samba4 AD/DC running on Slackware64 14.1, Samba version 4.2.12. This computer has been serving a Domain of several Windows 7 and one Linux domain members for about 2 years without problem. On a few occasions lately I've run the following command on the AD/DC: $ ntlm_auth --username="user" --password='password' NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED: Access denied (0xc0000022)

Congratulations. Happy to hear you got it running. Just out of curiosity and apologies if this has been answered before, but why Slack and not Debian when general consensus is Debian is great for Samba ? Building a Samba AD on Debian is painless and takes 20m from start to finish. Anyway, glad you sort it. LP. On 11 Feb 2024 at 05:11 +0100, Mark Foley <mfoley at novatec-inc.com>, wrote:
