dsync migration from maildir layout=fs to maildir seperator / - folders or inbox but not both
Am attempting to bring my mailserver back to home server post house move
and whilst I could use rsync have been trying to get to grips with dsync.
However, I seem to have an issue - my current server specifies
mail_location as
maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir:LAYOUT=fs
and my imapc config on new server is as follows ...
imapc_host = old.mailserver.host
imapc_user = %u

dsync migration from maildir layout=fs to maildir seperator / - folders or inbox but not both
Sigh ... ok so had if statement in SQL land that appended LAYOUT=fs if
Maildir which explains the non-converting folder layout but NOT why the
process is not picking up the actual contents of INBOX ...

dsync core dump
Dear all,
We're slowly progressing towards migration, and now run into dscyn
dumping core when trying to sync mailboxes from the old imap server.
Needless to say that not one byte get's transferred. On the old.server
all I see is a correct login.
This is what we get for one example user:
server:~# doveadm -v -D backup -R -u USER imapc:

Multiple Logins on same accounts from different stations
Hi, all
I've recently upgraded to 2.1.16 and found my self in deep ....
There are 4 accounts in my setup that need to be accessed simultaneously
by 5-6 PCs on a local lan.
The thing is if a user A updates, deletes, flags mail messages in the
imap folders the changes don't get propagated to the other
mail clients.
To state this clearly,
PC (A) thunderbird has an account SALES, Maildir

LMTP and passdb deny=yes not working
Hi all,
I start this on in a new thread. I setup the deny-user setting to
temporarily prevent users from logging in and (that would be great) also
stop mail delivery for said user. All this is because of our upcoming
migration.
Now it seems that lmtp is ignoring this setting. This is from the logfile:

2.1.7 altmove not working
Hi list,
I've just set up a 2.1.7 server, and have migrated a couple of accounts
across from a 2.0.15 server, keeping the old configs. I have a strange
problem on the new box in that altmove just doesn't work. I have my main
storage under /home/email, indexes under /home/indexes and ALT under
/home/email_archive.
When I run the altmove command, the following broken symlink is created

quota for subfolder with prefix=INBOX.
Hi all,
We use prefix=INBOX. in order to keep things as they were on the old
server. Now I started playing with quota and have trouble getting the
additional quota for Trash and/or Junk working. My expectation was that
once a user is over quota and moves email to trash sh/e should be able
to receive new email again. That's what I cannot get to work with our
setup.

dsync having problems with @-sign in mailbox names
Hi there
We are running Cyrus-to-Dovecot migrations using dsync on destination Dovecot server (Debian Stretch / latest Dovecot 2.3.7.2 from community repo) like this:
$ doveadm -o mail_fsync=never backup -R -u <username> imapc:
For imapc configuration to connect to remote Cyrus server, see below [1].
While this works great for hundreds of mailaccounts, dsync fails with the following

Using dsync to export mail to remote IMAP account
I've read the web/man pages on dsync, but it's not clear to me whether
dsync can be used to export (rather than import) a user's mailbox to a
remote non-dovecot IMAP account.
(The intention is to use it whenever a user leaves and wants to copy their
local mail to Google or whatever. I currently use uw-imapd's mailutil --
it works, but it's dreadfully slow.)

I'm trying to use dsync to copy mail from one server to a newer one, so
I'm using imapc as source (when running dsync in the destination server).
The command I'm using is like this:

Migration Problem UW-IMAP to Dovecot Maildir
I've just replaced our ancient (10-year old) mail server running
Sendmail/UW-IMAP on Solaris with Postfix/Dovecot 2.1.10 running on Linux
on new hardware. I opted to go with virtual users and I didn't want to
create system accounts and I might end up hosting another department's
mail as well.
We have a mix of POP3 and IMAP users, roughly 90 total. The POP3 user
mailboxes migrated

imapc vs auth-userdb security
Hello,
with imapc settings coming from userdb (individual configuration necessary)
there exists a security problem if access to auth-userdb socket is given
to normal (shell) users:

userdb: lpmail
uid : 1000
gid : 1111
home : /home/user1
