Dovecot doesn't seem to report all subfolders to Thunderbird
Hi,
I've recently migrated my emails from a Yahoo account to my own
mailserver on a VPS.
Ever since then, Thunderbird seems to have issues with the mailbox's
directory structure: When I start Thunderbird, it immediately deletes
the local copies of all 3rd-level folders (i.e. subfolders of a
subfolder of a folder in the mailbox root).
Since that didn't happen with the Yahoo account, I

Lazy_expunge issue...
Hello everybody,
I have a question about lazy_expunge plugin.
I set up Dovecot with lazy_expunge plugin on a Debian Wheezy machine; I
setup also a global acl to keep .expunged namespace readonly for all
users. Imap client is Horde Webmail Edition 5.2.3
When I try to delete folders containing subfolders, lazy_expunge copies
into expunged private namespace only the upper level folder. The

Raw Backtrace Error when backing up specific user
Hi,
probably since the update to 2.3.1 I can't backup a specific users mailbox.
For backup I use the command 'dsync -o plugin/quota= -f -u user at domain
backup dbox:/backup/dir'
When I execute this command with the -D option, I get to see
(above only Debug messages)

folder hierarchies with migration from cyrus to dovecot2
Hi,
I finally migrated my IMAP server from cyrus to dovecot2. I have been
using cyrus since many years and have not much experience with dovecot
yet though.
I've converted my imap server using cyrus2dovecot (several times until
I thought it was correct) but there is one thing left which confuses
me and I'm not sure what I can or need to do to change it.
With Cyrus I used

Hello, we're using mail on NFS and the indexes on localdisk, with a
director setup. (18K+ users) now to get more performance i thought to use
the ITERINDEX option. however this has the side-effect on some mailboxes
that it doesn't show the subfolders under INBOX.
they seem 'disappeared'. Removing the ITERINDEX option fixes this

search gives variable/different results
Hi,
When I perform a search using doveadm every time it returns different

from Cyrus to Dovecot, seen status on cyrus.index files
Hello,
Using cyrus2dovecot (https://github.com/a-schild/cyrus2dovecot) I have
migrated some test mailboxes from Cyrus (2.4.17) to Dovecot (2.2.9).
The problem I'm having is that the seen status is in cyrus.index files,
which cyrus2dovecot doesn't understand.
Does anyone use cyrus2dovecot for migrations? If so, how do you deal with
seen status when it is stored in the .index files?

Cannot log in to IMAP server and logs are unclear as to why
Hi Aki,
Again, thanks very much for your response. Your solution of adding the colons worked. Actually, I futzed with it a little bit and it works with as few as 2 added colons.
This is interesting since in the examples section of https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/authentication/passwd_file/ it explicitly states:
-----------------------
This file can be used as a passdb:

dsync mirror does not maintain changes between mailboxes
Hi,
running:
dsync -D -v -o mail_fsync=never mirror -R -f -u user at domain imapc:
Where "domain" is a cyrus imap server does not do what the
documentation says it does, not even close.
After the first run to an empty mailbox on the dovecot 2.2.13 server
all the mails (1.1GB) seem to be correctly synced. I send a test email
to the dovecot server and it shows up correctly.

users mail folders have to be subscribed
Hi,
I did a migration from cyrus 2.2 to dovecot (fresh installation, details
below) via cyrus2dovecot from FU Berlin. That worked, but I first was
missing mails in subfolders ander Inbox. No I detected that they are in the
users Maildir in folders in his directory. They are listed when using
telnet:

(no subject)
I've run into a problem with `doveadm backup` (2.2 rc2 and 20130226)
I did not notice in 2.1.15
doveadm backup [-Dv] -R -u cyrtest1 at iai.uni-bonn.de -m INBOX imapc:
=> crashes (signal 6 with acl plugin configured, sig 11 without acl)
If this is considered a bug (not just because of the crash but in the
meaning of "my configuration should work") it would be great if it could

Unable to see virtual users
I have a new Dovecot v2.2.9 installation and am having trouble
getting virtual users recognized.
Also, the example configuration listed on the Wiki generates config errors.
Note that I haven't tried running dovecot yet, I wanted to verify
that the config looked good first.
First, my configuration. I'm trying to use /etc/dovecot/users as my

Migrating from Cyrus to Dovecot
Hi,
we are migrating from Cyrus 2.3.7 to Dovecot 2.2.13. We have ~7000
maildirs with ~500GB. Our goal is to do the migration without users have
notice and with the shortest service downtime. The users use IMAP (with
shared folders and ACL), POP3 and sieve filters.
As a first choice, we tried the Dovecot's dsync tool. First tests were
great, but we are not able to change the Cyrus auth

sdbox filesystem backup potential excludes
When doing a filesystem backup of an moderate sdbox mailstore (300GB) -
are there any files that can be safely excluded from the backup?? Like
*.log or *.backup?? Or are they all "vital" for recovery?
I'm already excluding the sdbox/virtual folders as it looks like they
get created and updated as needed.

BUG: segmentation fault in auth
Hi
I'm getting segmentation fault in Dovecot 2.2.11. This happens when
trying to do a user lookup by "doveadm user". The machine is running Arch
Linux on i686 on ext3.
