make check fails with -march=i686 on gcc 2.96 (PR#2296)
The top-level 'make check' fails on Red Hat Linux 7.3 (fully patched
as of Nov. 15, 2002) when CFLAGS includes "-march=i686". In
particular, the following targets fail:
* test-Reg
* test-Examples
* test-Ts
The workaround is not to use "-march=i686". Specific stuff below, and
I'd be happy to provide any files or fragments thereof that'd help.

centos7: ntpd not started on boot
Hi,
I have got problems with the ntp daemon.
It is enabled in systemd but is not started on boot.
# systemctl status ntpd
? ntpd.service - Network Time Service
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service; enabled; vendor
preset: disabled)
Active: inactive (dead)
Starting manually works
# systemctl start ntpd
# systemctl status ntpd

Trouble joining DC Bind9_DLZ
Hi,
There is no record for the forest:
ldbsearch --cross-ncs -H /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb -b
'CN=MicrosoftDNS,DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=empresa,DC=com,DC=br' -s sub
'(&(objectclass=dnsZone)(dc=_msdcs.empresa.com.br))'

Can I fix this?

Debian client/workstation pam_mount
Maybe I am not testing the signin correctly. Here is what I am doing. I
sign into the client/workstation (hereafter referred to as C/W) via ssh as
the local "admin" from another C/W so I can open many terminals to tail log
files. Then "sudo -i" into "root". All testing is run as "root". When I
sign into "root", I see this:

ssh access to vmware vm from outside
Hi,
I have a centos 7 host server, which hosts vmware vms with various Os.
I want to reach a ubuntu 14.04 vm through ssh and x2go (ssh as well).
What I did.
1/ open a 2296 port in firewalld.
2/ add 2296=internalvmip:22 in tcp section of
/etc/vmware/vmnet8/nat/nat.conf (vmnet8 being the vms network)

Changing selected elements of an array
Hi!
I have a matrix defined on geographical positions (through) row and column
names. I need to change a number of elements in this matrix using the
information of a data.frame containing geographical positions and a number of
variables.
Changing the value of one specific element is easy, but changing on a number
of selected positions seems more difficult. When I use the geographical
