Delete ypbind.........dependancy headaches.. yp-tools is needed by (installed) ypbind
Hi, My brain is hurting a bit over this one. How does one delete ypbind cleanly from a RHEL6 box? It has a dep of yp-tools. No problem...I add both to the uninstall list in hiera; packages_oel6_absent: <snip> - ypbind - yp-tools SNIP from manifest; $packagesabsent = hiera("${packages_key}_absent",''nil'') if

[off-topic] RHEL6 and NIS/YP
Hi Did anyone managed to configure RHEL 6 beta to authenticate using NIS? During the installation the option to use NIS as authentication method is disable. When I tried to install with yum, I got the following message: Installed size: 222 k Is this ok [y/N]: y Downloading Packages: ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/rhel/beta/6/i386/os/Packages/yp-tools-2.9-8.1.el6.i686.rpm: [Errno 14] PYCURL

missing mount cmd confuses guestfish
I think calling "sh" before "mount" should not confuse guestfish like that: # guestfish (1.20.4 on sles11sp3) Welcome to guestfish, the libguestfs filesystem interactive shell for editing virtual machine filesystems. Type: 'help' for help on commands 'man' to read the manual 'quit' to quit the shell ><fs> add-drive

missing lvm.conf is fatal
I have a report for 1.20.4 about this error. There is no /etc/lvm/lvm.conf in the guest, which is handled as fatal error. Creating an emtpy file with that name is a workaround for the time being. $ virt-resize --expand /dev/sda2 in.img out.img Examining in.img ... Fatal error: exception Guestfs.Error("lvm_set_filter: open: /tmp/lvmiUFSBa/lvm/lvm.conf: No such file or directory") Maybe

how to use intel UHD 630 display driver on CentOS 7.8?
Hello all, I just installed CentOS 7.8 on ASRock B460M Pro4 board. CPU is i5-10400. The display device is inside the CPU and the max resolution is 4096x2160 for HDMI. But when I connect my small screen (max full HD), the display resolution is only 800x600. >From seeing some info here, I installed EPEL for yum, and inxi. [libnbd PATCH] golang: Bump minimum Go version to 1.17
Go 1.17 or newer is required to use unsafe.Slice(), which in turn allows us to write a simpler conversion from a C array to a Go object during callbacks. To check if this makes sense, look at https://repology.org/project/go/versions compared to our list in ci/manifest.yml, at the time I made this commit: Alpine 3.15: 1.17.10 AlmaLinux 8: 1.19.10 CentOS Stream 8: 1.20.4 Debian 10: 1.11.6 Debian

ATTN: Denial of service attack possible on libguestfs 1.21.x, libguestfs.1.22.0
There's a denial of service attack possible from guests on any program that does inspection (eg. virt-inspector, many other virt-* tools, virt-v2v, OpenStack). The attack causes the host process to crash because of a double free. It's probably not exploitable (definitely not on Fedora because of the default memory hardening settings). This patch contains the fix and a reproducer:

NV40 under Debian
Hi list, my media center PC is freshly installed with Debian 10.2 "Buster". It doesn't support Geforce 6800 GT (NV40) boards through the nvidia nor the nvidia-legacy drivers any longer. The legacy drivers worked up until Debian 9 "Stretch", but no longer. I know that the hardware works because I can boot SystemRescueCD from CD and get a flawless desktop presentation on
