Update from 6.5 to 6.6 breaks epel qt5
Just a heads up, if anyone is doing QT development with the EPEL
RPMs, the update from RHEL 6.5 to 6.6 breaks the current qt5 RPMS.
In fact, I had to uninstall qt5 to perform the update.
I've submitted a bug report upstream, so hopefully it'll get resolved
before too much longer. In the interim, you either get to update,
or you get to stop your qt5 development ...

as.numeric and as.character with locale using comma as separator
Dear all,
summary:
My LC_NUMERIC is changed from C to de_DE by library (qtbase).
[which shouldn't happen according to the warning when setting it back
manually].
I posted an issue at their github repository, but maybe the behaviour is
a bit more of general interest.
However, if LC_NUMERIC is changed, as.character () uses the decimal
separator that belongs to LC_NUMERIC (and not options

CRAN Check warnings with GCC 8.1
Some time ago I (and some other CRAN package maintainers) got an email
from Brian Ripley (copied below) regarding compiler warnings under gcc
8.1. In my case this concerns package PropClust
(https://CRAN.R-project.org/package=PropClust). The check with gcc 8.1
(https://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/gcc8/PropClust.out) produced a
warning about an uninitialized variable.
I cannot reproduce the warning

new packages idendro and idendr0
Dear all,
let me please announce two new R packages for interactive dendrogram
exploration: idendro and idendr0.
idendro [1] enables useRs to inspect hierarchical clustering dendrograms
interactively: to select and color clusters, to zoom and pan the
dendrogram, and to visualize the clustered data not only in a built-in heat
map, but also in any interactive plot implemented in the cranvas [2]

Trying to cross-compile LLVM runtimes to Windows
I suspect mingw is going to be incompatible with Petr’s needs. Adding Nico
as he probably does the most cross compiling. I did it a little several
weeks ago, just not with libc++, and I don’t remember running into any
problems.
One thing that’s not clear to me is why the resource compiler is even being
invoked at all

CentOS 8: several packages have unresolved dependencies after "dnf update all "
All,
While updating my package using dnf update all I allow dnf to clean some
package with unresolved dependencies.
I would like to reinstall some of them but got an error message "but none
of the providers can be installed" during the install process as dnf is
trying to install the dependencies.
.
This happens for some critical package like boost-openmpi-devel (see
