TIP for broken ARIN whois
This works for me on Centos 5.6. It may assist newcomers to the Linux world of Centos. whois 51.51.51.51 produces a normal and conventional display of data. However since ARIN, the North American registrar of IP addresses, "modernised" its WHOIS processing, a query to whois 64.64.64.64 will produce a one line summary of possible matches, which always includes ARIN, but omits the

Projects.centos.org down?
I have been trying to get to the CentOS LiveCD site at projects.centos.org the last couple of days, but have been unable to reach it. Is it down, and is there any info on when it might be back up? Lots of NMBD zombie processes
Hello, I am running a Samba 4 DC, recently upgraded to the latest version and I have just installed a member server to run as a File Server (Samba 4.1.9). While it seems to be working properly, we are getting a lot of zombie nmbd processes on the member server, running the command *pidof nmbd* results in: *[root at BHFS01 etc]# pidof nmbd* *12861 12644 12404 12236 12071 11885 11720 11553 11388

Loading an S object into R
I hope you'll all forgive me for displaying my severe lack of knowledge on this topic, and I can't really provide much in the way of reproducible code. A colleague of mine has asked if I know how to import an S object into R. The object is stored in a file named 'pre3.f' When I open the file as a text document I get what's printed below. zpool import panics
Hi, I just had my Dell R610 reboot with a kernel panic when I threw a couple of zfs clone commands in the terminal at it. Now, after the system had rebooted zfs will not import my pool anylonger and instead the kernel will panic again. I have had the same symptom on my other host, for which this one is basically the backup, so this one is my last line if defense. I tried to run zdb -e
