a peculiar LVM failure on CentOS 6 run as a VMware 5.5 guest
Hello listmates,
I have encountered a rather peculiar situation.
We have a Centos 6 VM (64 bit) running on a VMware vSphere 5.5 server. It
was running just fine until one day I decided to reboot it and it just
would not boot up. Effectively, dracut failed to initialize the LVM, much
like under the scenario described here:

glibc-2.5-58.el5_6.2.i686 broken?
Hi,
I woke up Saturday morning unable to boot my freshly upgraded 5.6 with
grub hanging at "GRUB". After getting the boot loader fixed I
experienced crashes in evolution. Downgrading glibc to 2.5-58 seems to
fix these issues. Anyone else seeing this?

Openssl C6 distro tag different from upstream
Hi,
Just noticed that the distro tag used in openssl is different from
upstream. Upstream and the last update (openssl-1.0.1e-30.el6_6.7) use
"el6_6" where as the latest update (openssl-1.0.1e-30.el6.8) uses
"el_6". Any reason for this discrepancy?

Leonard.

Any news on an updated php 5.2 version in extras/testing?
Hi,
I've being using the 5.2.10 that is in testing in a production environment
for more than six months without any problem. I am wondering if/when we are
going to see a 5.2.14 version there and if the recently disclosure of a
5.1.6 security update affects the 5.2.10 that is in testing.

Bind9 zero day bug - CVE-2011-4313 - when will there be an update in Centos 5+6 ?
Hi.
http://www.debian.org/security/2011/dsa-2347
There is updated packages for Debian (and Ubuntu) already.
Do you know how long until Centos release an update to bind ?
I have looked here and couldn't see any info -
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-announce/2011-November/thread.html
- Is this the correct place to look for security update info ?
Cheers !

Corrupt selinux-policy-targeted-3.7.19-260.el6.noarch.rpm
Hi,
Updating selinux-policy-targeted to 3.7.19-260 fails. The archive seems
corrupt. Got another copy from
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/6/os/x86_64/Packages/ which also fails:
# rpm -Fv selinux-policy-targeted-3.7.19-260.el6.noarch.rpm

Apache httpd-2.2.15 updates
Hello,
I am working on a CentOS Linux 2.6.32-71.el6.x86_64 system.
I noticed that the system came with httpd-2.2.15-6 installed.
After I run 'yum update' I get httpd-2.2.15-9.
I did some research on the Internet, but can't find the following
information: are most of the security fixes that appear in httpd-2.2.21
applied to the update on httpd-2.2.15-9?
There was a security fix just

I tried to apply a security context on a directory with the following
commands:

When I list the contexts, it is part of the list....

Hi,
Received lvm2 updates for CEBA-2015-1018 but haven't seen an
announcement on CentOS announce yet nor can I find it in the archives.
Is it still in the pipeline or did something go wrong?

Leonard.
