Kernel 2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.x86_64, higher than usual load
Hi, After switching to the 2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.x86_64 kernel (CentOS 6) a few weeks ago I have noticed that my servers are now reporting a much higher idle load. The servers are being monitored with Zabbix, and there is a clear difference between the older kernel 2.6.32-573.12.1 and the newer 2.6.32-573.12.1. I can see the problem on both physical and virtual servers. You can see the Load

Missing module grub entry in xen-4.4.3-9 & boot issues
I've also had a few Xen systems grub entry issues. I'm not yet sure what triggers the events, but I do think there *may* be a correlation to the "/boot" part. I've found the Xen servers that have "/boot" before any of the the lines like "/boot/xen.gz" ended up missing complete grub entries. Not sure it's 100% true. Anyone else comment? Thanks PJ On

Missing module grub entry in xen-4.4.3-9 & boot issues
HI, We've started to see several issues with the Xen releases. Going back to basics I've used this guide https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/Xen4QuickStart Once the install process is complete the grub.conf looks like this: default=0 timeout=5 splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz hiddenmenu title CentOS (3.18.21-17.el6.x86_64) root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/xen.gz

USB Serial ports (ttyACMn) CentOS 6.7 (64-bit) vs. CentOS 6.7 (64-bit)
I sent this out about a week or so ago, but I have heard nothing. I am *thinking* it is a SELINUX problem, but I cannot figure out what. The SELINUX settings for both machines are *exactly* the same (the stock defaults for a standard CentOS 6 install). The *only* difference is that the desktop (sauron) has a few VMs setup (under KVM) and the laptop (gollum) does not. The desktop has an AMD

Kernel Panic post kernel-2.6.32-504.23.4.el6.x86_64
Greetings, Today, I decided to reboot one of my CentOS machines after it had been running for 219 days. In this time, I had done yum updates several times. When I tried rebooting the machine, none of the kernels would work except for the oldest one. Here are the installed kernels: kernel-2.6.32-504.23.4.el6.x86_64 kernel-2.6.32-573.3.1.el6.x86_64 kernel-2.6.32-573.7.1.el6.x86_64

And when I tried to run a software(CONVERGE STUDIO), I find such errors: Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". QGLTempContext: No GL capable X visuals available. Hi IIia, Thank you very much for your help. Does the distro released more recently than Dec 2009 support OPENGL 3.3 ? BTW, note that mesa-based drivers don't support above GL 3.0 for compatibility contexts on any hardware. Most reasonable software that requires advanced functionality uses core contexts though. USB Serial ports (ttyACMn) CentOS 6.7 (64-bit) vs. CentOS 6.7 (64-bit)
I have two computers: both running CentOS 6.7, 64-bit, with kernel 2.6.32-573.12.1.el6.x86_64. One is a laptop with an 2 core Intel processor and the other is a desktop machine with a 4 core AMD processor. Both with selinux enabled. I have a USB serial port device (a RR-CirKits LCC-Buffer USB). On the desktop I am getting this error: sauron.deepsoft.com% sudo minicom Device /dev/ttyACM0

HP OfficeJet Printing
There has been a bit of grumbling recently about HP printer capability in one of our smallest prototyping Labs.? We have a single GigE switch connecting a Windows 7 machine and a Dell/CentOS-6 machine.? The CentOS machine also has connectivity via another network.? Currently, only the Windows 7 machine has been setup for printing on our HP OfficeJet 8615. Our Samba effort on the CentOS system has

Nouveau was merged upstream into the kernel in 2.6.35 or so. The 2.6.32-based system you have is a franken-kernel maintained by RedHat. You should go to them for support. I'd recommend trying a distro based on a kernel that was released more recently than Dec 2009. Depends on the hardware. You may be interested in looking at https://people.freedesktop.org/~imirkin/glxinfo/ for specifics.
