Best encoding/charset for rails ecommerce site?
Normally, I''d just use UTF-8 but the more I read about ruby, the more
confused I am about selecting the most trouble-free encoding.
I''m using ruby 1.8.2, rails 1.1.2, postgresql 7.4.7 on Debian stable.
The website is in English and will sell products to U.S. and Canadian
customers so it needs to support special characters found in Spanish and
French names.

Areskicc installation problems
Hi,
I'm trying to install Areskicc but with no much sucess. After
installing the UI I login as root/mypass, but in the left menu I only
have 3 options: Main Template, disconnect and logout. When I click on
Mail Template> Show mail template it shows an error page. First, is
there a way to increase the debugging level so I can know what's going
on behind the scenes? Second, I've

rsyslog stops logging on service reload?
I have multiple servers running stock CentOS 7 rsyslog 7.4.7-16.el7,
which are configured to log locally and over TCP to a remote logserver,
also running stock CentOS 7 rsyslog. The remote server uses imptcp to
receive, and pretty basic rules to parse and commit to disk.
I have several systems that log prolifically, but periodically, they
stop soon after the remote log server HUPs (daily

large data set, and RDBMS
I have this somewhat large data set that is given to me in a fixed width
format. The file itself is already 100MB (Maybe R can actually handle
this but I am trying to gain some experience in postgres and RODBC). I
am using postgres to preprocess the file and connect to the database through the RODBC package.
My question is much before the processing of the database in R (Iknow this

Google Ads in rsyslog documentation files
Hi Mark,
I'm not sure whether upstream is the right place to address this, but I'll try. I just downloaded all versions of the rsyslog sources from rsyslog.com, and found 'googlesyndication' links in the following versions:
rsyslog-4.8.0
rsyslog-5.10.0
rsyslog-5.10.1
rsyslog-5.8.13
rsyslog-6.6.0
rsyslog-7.3.0
rsyslog-7.3.1
rsyslog-7.3.2

As fast as I know, the standard NUT package will not command your power
supply off unless customizations are made. Devices like Synology have an
option to command the UPS off. What is acting as your NUT server? Your
server PC?

CentOS 7 magically rebooted!
CentOS Linux release 7.2.1511 (Core)
Hi,
Last night our CentOS 7 server rebooted. Seemingly it's a very clean reboot. I can't find a shred of
evidence as to why it happened though.
Things I've checked:
* sa reports
* /var/log/{messages,secure,dmesg,cron}
* /var/log/audit/audit.log
* lastlog
The host is used for KVM virtualisation and connects via multipathing to our OmniOS SAN via

Data Base that is en Postgres, the truth is that I didn’t think that it
was so hard to connect a DB with postgres because I was working with
Msyql and everything was easy. This are the thinks that I have install
