question on software raid
dmesg is not reporting any issues. The /proc/mdstat looks fine. md0 : active raid1 sdb1[1] sda1[0] X blocks [2/2] [UU] however /var/log/messages says: smartd[3392] Device /dev/sda 20 offline uncorrectable sectors The machine is running fine.. raid array looks good - what is up with smartd? Adding a new disk to an existing raid 10

RAID card selection - JBOD mode / Linux RAID
I don't think this is off topic since I want to use JBOD mode so that Linux can do the RAID. I'm going to hopefully run this in CentOS 5 and Ubuntu 12.04 on a Sunfire x2250 Hard to get answers I can trust out of vendors :-) I have a Sun RAID card which I am pretty sure is LSI OEM. Fsck on mdraid array
Something seems to be wrong with my file systems, and I want to fsck everything. But I cannot. The setup consists of 2 hds, carrying 3 raid1 (ext3) file systems (boot, /, swap). OS is up-to-date CentOS 5. So I boot from CentOS 5.3 dvd in rescue mode, do not mount the file systems, and try to run fsck -y /dev/md0 fsck -y /dev/md1 fsck -y /dev/md2 For each try I get an error message:

Drive failed in 4-drive md RAID 10
I got the email that a drive in my 4-drive RAID10 setup failed. What are my options? Poor RAID performance new Xeon server?
I have just purchased an HP ProLiant HP ML110 G5 server and install ed CentOS 5.2 x86_64 on it. How can I tell wich HDD to swap, when the "cat /proc/mdstat" says one HDD of the RAID1 array has died? Does the HDD's has some serial numbers, that I can see in "reality", and I can get that number from e.g.: a commands output? mdraid doesn't allow creation: device or resource busy
Dear fellow CentOS users, I have never experienced this problem with hard disk management before and cannot explain it to myself on any rational basis. The setup: I have a workstation for testing, running latest CentOS 7.3 AMD64. I am evaluating oVirt and a storage-ha as part of my bachelors thesis. deleting FakeRaid -> what happens to the partitions/data
Hi A server has FakeRAID installed, I want to remove it to make it mdadm driven .... If I delete the FakeRAID including - disabling it in the BIOS - removing the dmraid driver from initrd - deleting all meta data from partitions - deleting all dmraid packages is the data still available on the drives, i.e. the partitions, filesystem and files are still ok? I know that FakeRAID controller
