Differences in SAS and R defaults
Hello all, I am looking for theories and statistical analyses where the defaults employed in R and SAS are different. As a result, the outputs under the defaults should (at least slightly) differ for the same input. Could anyone kindly point any such instance? Thanks Nikhil

read.csv converts "NA" to missing values
Hello, I have a CSV file with region codes listed in a column. E.g. 'AS' for Asia, 'AU' for Australia and 'NA' North America. However, the data frame created using read.csv shows <NA> where the string variable should have had the value 'NA'. How can I input the value 'NA' present in a column in a CSV file without R changing it to missing? Thanks

Old HP Xeon server blade with only SCSI HDD ports & CentOS
Hi there. I got myself a pair of old Intel Xeon blades, which I plan to repurpose with CentOS. The model is : HP bl20p-g3 server blade Manual http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12322_ca/12322_ca.pdf Now, the main problem with this hardware is that LVD UW SCSI HDDs are hard to find and hella expensive if you find em (and of reduced capacity). upgrading storage on hardware RAID 10 possible?
Hi all, Can anyone please tell me, from experience, if it's possible to upgrade the hard drives in a RAID 10 system from 250GB HDD's to 500GB / 750GB HDD's, while the server is running? The server runs CentOS 5.5 x64. Our hardware vendors simply always say no, so we never actually tried doing this, and when a client needed an upgrade like this we had to build a new server with the

I am able to boot any client that has pxeboot capability using my setup, except for these blades. My thoughs were using redboot commands to do the following: 1. load -v -r -b 0x8000000 -h 10.1.1.1 pxelinux.0 2. start This however caused my

R and Openmpi
Hello, We have R working with Rmpi/openmpi, but I'm a little worried. Specifically, (a) the -np flag doesn't seem to override the hostfile (it works fine with fortran hello world) and (b) I appear to have twice as many processes running as I think I should. Rmpi version 0.5.5 Openmpi version 1.1 Viglen HPC with (effectively) 9 blades and 8 nodes on each blade. myhosts file contains

Xen console on Bladecenter remote KVM
Hello list, when using Xen on our Bladecenter with the advanced management module everything works fine, but as soon as I switch the KVM to another blade and then switch back to xen machine, vga output is unavailable (due to wrong resolution or hz frequency? But it works if I don''t switch away). The machine itself works, only vga output is gone after switching kvm away from the box.
