samba wins and MS11-035
Hello Samba,
I'm running 4.2.14 (yes, will update;-) ) as a DC. In our network we
run security scans with a greenbone.net system which is basically a
OpenVAS.org appliance.
OpenVAS reports the following security problem against the samba wins

Anyone has experience with OpenVAS and the Atomicorp repository
I was looking for a vulnerability scanner and found OpenVAS. Does anyone has experiences with that scanner?
And with the Atomicorp repository? (the OpenVAS website refers to that repo)
Thanks

Iptables rules not working
Hi,
I am running CentOS Linux release 8.2.2004 (Core) on a remote server. I am
running the below iptables command to allow SSH port 22 from a specific
source IP 219.91.200.59
iptables -A INPUT -m tcp -p tcp -s 219.91.200.59 --dport 22 -j ACCEPT
> service iptables save
The above iptables ruleset is not working and I am still able to connect
from the internet to SSH port 22. I look forward to

OpenVAS: confusion with 3rd party repos
Hi,
I'm currently experimenting with OpenVAS, the vulnerability scanner
which was forked from Nessus.
I'm reading through various HOWTOs and tutorials, and it seems like I'm
stuck very early in my fiddling process.
All the CentOS-based tutorials I've found mention a third-party Atomic
repo, and here's how the installation usually begins.
# wget -q -O -

OpenVAS: confusion with 3rd party repos
I gave up with the repo method and ended up building it from source. It
worked out a lot easier.

creating multiple plots using a splitting factor
Hello,
I am new to R. I often collect data at multiple sites and need to
create separate graphs (such as scatterplots or histograms) of specific
variables for each site. I have tried to do this by splitting the data
frame and then using lapply, but it seems that the graphing commands
cannot be called as functions. Here is a sample of my data, called
"seeddist2":

8.2.2004 Quick recovery and fix for unbootable machines
This is a quick recovery and fix for the machines rendered unbootable
after the grub2/shim yum update.
It is written for CentOS 8.2.2004 but similar should work for any CentOS
8 or 7 as long as you get the correct shim file,
that is, the one from the latest installation media.
I am running on an x86_64 architecture (see uname -i). Please use the
correct shim file for your architecture

TeX Live on CentOS 7
Hi,
I just installed the OpenVAS vulnerability scanner on my CentOS 7
workstation. Everything seems to work fine, except PDF generation. The
'openvas-check-setup' script tells me that PDF generation works fine,
but whenever I want to generate a report, the result is unusable and
can't open in Evince or Okular.
After googling a bit, I found out that several users complained that Tex

It looks like there's a significant amount of bad OpenVAS tutorials

I maintain a set of SSH hardening guides for various platforms,
including RHEL 8. You can find them here:

Fwd: 8.2.2004 Quick recovery and fix for unbootable machines with rescue disk
Hello all--
These instructions are somewhat OK but my messed up box is the only one
I've got basically to help with this problem.
Where can we find "correction" instructions using a "rescue" CD or flash
drive? I understand RedHat provided detailed instructions to supported
customers.
Thanks.
