systemd syslog.target
I've noticed that there are several systemd unit files in CentOS 7 and 8 with the optionAfter=syslog.targetin the [Unit] section, but since systemd version 198 syslog.target has not existed.I deduce from this that "After=syslog.target" is ignored by systemd and can therefore be removed. Is this correct??I am writing some systemd unit files for our own services which previously used

PHP FPM issue
Hi Marius, Will make the changes and see how it goes. On the other hand https://cbs.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=27138 if the above was released we could just install and migrate to rh-php73-php, which is not affected as per https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2019-11043 thanks --- Thomas Stephen Lee On Thu, Oct 31, 2019 at 8:40 PM Marius ROMAN <marius at roman.systems>

KeePassX replacement
I have been using the KeePassX password manager on CentOS 6 and 7 for some time and it works pretty well. On my Windows machine I use KeePass which offers a number of features missing from KeePassX, I also sync the database between several machines, including Android units where I use keepass2android. Database compatibility is thus required. KeePassX, however, does not seem to be maintained any

libQt5Core.so ver 5.12
Hello, For the last few days, 'dnf upgrade' on my Centos 8 installation has been showing problems saying that it cannot install the best update candidates for packages (kf5-*) because nothing provides libQtCore.so.5(Qt_5.12). My system shows that it presently has libQtCore.so.5(Qt_5.11). I've been keeping the system up to date using the --nobest option in dnf. I could download

Fwd: Centos 6 AMI does not support c4-8xlarge
One of the things suboptimal with Marketplace images is that the author can limit which instance types are allowed with the AMI and there is no way to override that. We are using Centos 6.8 for our deployments, but we need to move to the c4.8xlarge type, but that is not a permitted option for the "CentOS 6 (x86_64) - with Updates HVM" AMI. Is there any way we could get that image

Fwd: Centos 6 AMI does not support c4-8xlarge
I have done that, but the point of the request is that we would like to have an official upstream AMI that we can use as the basis for our work. I'm guessing that the reason for the blacked out instance type is that early 6.x kernels didn't have the patches necessary to support 36 vCPU's present in the c4.8xlarge instance. Renaming virtio devices names on CentOS 8 VM guest
I have built a CentOS 8 base image from a kickstart, for use in OpenStack. This image boots fine but the problem I have is that I can't stop udev from renaming the network device from eth0 to ens<something>. I have /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 with the correct HWADDR defined in it, and have set net.ifnames=0 and biosdevname=0 in the grub configuration, but nothing I have

__attribute__((apple_abi)): targeting Apple/ARM64 ABI from Linux (and others)
Hello everyone, I made a quick patch to clang/llvm to introduce an "apple_abi" function attribute (https://github.com/aguinet/llvm-project/commit/c4905ded3afb3182435df30e527955031cb0d098), to be able to compile functions for the Apple ARM64 ABI when targeting other ARM64 OSes (e.g. Linux). This can be seen as the Apple version of the already existing "ms_abi" attribute. In
