yum update security updates only
Frank, Interesting thank you I didn't realize that. It used to be supported I believe, and there is a lot of out of date 3rd party documentation floating around google that suggests it does. Well it's just that many enterprises have policies which state that only security updates should be installed, which I suspect is exactly why that feature is no longer supported.. Eric On Fri,

perl Net::Interface module on CentOS 8
We have received a perl program that makes use of "Net::Interface" module which I am trying to run on CentOS 8. However, running into issues as this module is not found. use Net::Interface; I could use cpan to install the same, but currently using the rpm packages for all the needs. Any idea which rpm package provides this perl module? Thanks.

Invoking SAS in order to use sas.get
I am trying to use the sas.get function to bring a SAS dataset into R. After calling the sas.get function I got an error message stating that 'sas' is not a recognized internal or external command, etc. I am guessing that I need to specify the internal command to invoke SAS in the sasprog option for the sas.get function, but I don't know how to determine what that command might be.

modeling logit(y/n) using lrm
I have a dataset at a hospital level (as opposed to the patient level) that contains number of patients experiencing events (call this number y), and the number of patients eligible for such events (call this number n). I am trying to model logit(y/n) = XBeta. In SAS this can be done in PROC LOGISTIC or GENMOD with a model statement such as: model y/n = <predictors>;. Can this be done

R vs. Stata
I have read some very good reviews comparing R (or Splus) to SAS. Does anyone know if there are any reviews comparing R (or Splus) to Stata? I am trying to get others to try R in my department, and I have never used Stata. decompose a correlation matrix
Is there a simple way to decompose the upper triangle of a correlation matrix to a linear list; For example: X Y Z X 1 2 3 Y 2 1 4 Z 3 4 1 so you get a list like: xy 2 XZ 3 YZ 4 I suspect you can do it with a matrix transformation, but that beyond me at present. Many thanks Mark _________________________ Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Baylor College of Medicine,

compiling fedora srpm on CentOS
I tried installing fedora grpc srpm on CentOS and ran into following error when installing srpm. I understand fedora makes use of more recent versions of openssl, glibc etc but why should this happen when installing source rpm? Any pointers/articles on how to go about building fedora srpms on CentOS? Any way out other than building directly using sources? rpm -i grpc-1.17.1-3.fc30.i686.rpm

devtoolset8 libstdc++-devel i686 package
Unfortunately I am still looking for a way around on this one. If the i686 packages are not available, is there a way I can build one? I have not been able to find devtoolset8 SRPM package on the SCL page <https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/scls/rhscl/devtoolset-8/>, which would have enabled me to try to build from the sources. Any pointers and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

augPred in lmer
I read the posts about augPred with lme, but does anyone know if there is a correlate for augPred for lmer? Specifically, I want to be able to use it to plot projections for all groups in an lmer class object using plot(augPred(lmer.object)). Thanks, Kyle *************************************** J.
