Removing unused dependencies is optional. dnf remove *subscription* --noautoremove should remove the dependent packages but keep thee unused dependencies if you want them. There's also a setting in /etc/dnf/dnf.conf to set the default behaviour of the autoremove

CentOS 8: several packages have unresolved dependencies after "dnf update all "
All, While updating my package using dnf update all I allow dnf to clean some package with unresolved dependencies. I would like to reinstall some of them but got an error message "but none of the providers can be installed" during the install process as dnf is trying to install the dependencies. . This happens for some critical package like boost-openmpi-devel (see below for

epoch rpm el8 obsolete?
I am building a new workstation based on EL8 now. As someone else here mentioned, the raw EL8 distribution is unusable as a workstation. Therefore I am building lot of additional packages. Today I came across a problem with a custom package with an Epoch version, that kills the yum/dnf update process (it tries to find a "best" package etc.). My actually question; is the RPM Epoch

It sounds like you have something installed that doesn't need to be or shouldn't be installed. Under what circumstances does that message appear? I haven't seen it on any of my C8 systems,

log4j12 package in CentOS 8
According to the RHEL docs, package log4j was replaced with package log4j12 in RHEL 8.0. However, when I attempt to install the package in CentOS 8, dnf cannot find it. I have the Base, AppStream, Extras and PowerTools repos enabled. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

yum/dnf diff
I'm used to using "git diff" and "svn diff" to view changes in my development system. Is there a similar thing that works with changes between a repository package and the installed RPM? Ie. something that shows the changes in /etc hinted at by "rpm -V". I'm already using etckeeper+git but that would combine changes from updates with my own modifications.
