All i have is : smtpd_client_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated   I disabled the unknown restriction due to lots of customers of me are missing PTR records, which needs to be set bij the internet provider. Hi list, I have noted over the last week or so my DNS servers are dumping lots of messages for bogus domain lookups. Examining the postfix queue with postqueue -p: I see many (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=bdgiedjhea.po6e4ina.com type=MX: Host not found, try again) Jake at bdgiedjhea.po6e4ina.com My question - why does this

postfix and spam, I am impressed
I have had the same email address since 1997 (when microsoft stole bob.com from me thanks to network solutions...) In the early days I of course was free with my email and used it everwhere. Fast forward to 2012, some 15 years later. woof..the amount of spam sent to me has always just kept getting worse and worse. On my centos 5 server I just used sendmail with spamassassin and it killed a

Using Dovecot-auth to return error code 450 (or other 4xx) to Postfix when user is on vacation
Hello to all members. I am using Dovecot for 5 years, but this is my first post here. I am aware of the various autoresponder scripts for vacation autoreplies (I am using Virtual Vacation 3.1 by Mischa Peters). I have an issue with auto-replies - it is vulnerable to spamming with forged email address. Forging can be prevented with several Postfix settings, which I did in the past - but was forced

How "safe" is reject_unknown_helo_hostname?
Helo hostname MUST have resolvable hostname. Crazy or not, but i use this. The _access-allow parts for server you really trust. smtpd_client_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, reject_unauth_destination, check_client_access cidr:/etc/postfix/check_client_access-allow.cidr, reject_unknown_hostname, reject_non_fqdn_hostname, reject_invalid_hostname,

spam filtering with centos 5.2
In the past I've used a combination of spamhaus combined RBL's and Spamassassin with Mailscanner as my spam recipe, but this stopped working very well for me well over a year ago. As many of the users of the couple small/personal mail servers I run are NOT technical people, and use POP to read their mail, 'training' spamassassin is difficult at best. Once upon a time, using

Postgrey not working
Hi, I have a working installation of Postfix and Dovecot that works nicely. I've added SpamAssassin, which does a good job of flagging spam. Now I wanted to add greylisting to my server. Here's what I did. $ sudo yum install postgrey Increase the greylisting delay. # /etc/sysconfig/postgrey POSTGREY_OPTS="--delay=300" Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf accordingly.

Postfix smtp_recipient_restrictions causing mail to fail
Hi All, I'm currently playing with smtp_recipient restrictions to try and knock some of this spam on it's head. On my old debian server, I was using this and successfully filtering out at least 90% if not more of all spam emails which was great. I didn't even need spamassassin. However, trying to do the same thing on my new CentOS based server isn't working. With the

sieve redirect to foreign email gets “Relay access denied”
I have a postfix mail server with sql authentication and I want to implement sieve on it. Sieve is working relative good, rules who contain 'fileinto' are executed perfectly. The problem is the redirect to other servers. I configured a rule in Sieve to redirect any email containing "redirect" in subject to a specified foreign destination. # So practically a email coming from

Howto: postfix_restrictions
Hey Ned, I found this very useful to test that the RBL was working: http://www.spamhaus.org/faq/answers.lasso?section=Spamhaus%20SBL#207 " How do I test my SBL setup? Once you have set up your mail server to use sbl.spamhaus.org (or the preferred zen.spamhaus.org), you can test to see if the SBL blocking is working by sending an email (any email) to: nelson-sbl-test at crynwr.com
