Back to gspca
Ok... digging still more into this problem that I'm *still* fighting,
using mplayer and a higher debug level, what I *think* the significant
message is (this is just one example line):
libv4lconvert: Error decompressing JPEG: fill_nbits error: need 5 more bits
fps = 15.626953, interval = 0.096001, a_skew = 0.000000, corr_skew = 0.000000
vcnt = 1, acnt = 0
Which seems to indicate that for some

Zoom?
Hi, folks,
After I did a complete reinstall of current 7, with KDE instead of
minimal, I'm mostly ok... except for Zoom. Has anyone gotten sound
working with firefox? I get video, but it keeps claiming that my browser
(the default firefox) can't access the system sound.
Given that even as I type this, I'm streaming WUMB through its
player.... I have noScript, but I

I think you will get more trouble because this plugin uses python2 code
and I am not sure if this is supported under EL9.
You could try the flatpak version of this plugin ...

Logitech webcam for use with CentOS 7
I am thinking of buying a Logitech C920S Pro HD or C922 webcam for the necessary video conferencing.
Is anyone using that with Zoom or perhaps with Jitsi? Do I need drivers? Any issues?
Thank you.

Thanks, I didn't know about flatpak... even tho it's in the base repo!?
I have to admit though, after reading through the flatpak website about
it, I still don't understand how it could overcome the dependency
problem with the skypeforlinux

Flatpak request
I am using NUT on Linux Mint with no issues. Installed from PPA.
However I have tried on 3 occasions to build from source for Solus 3 and
have had no luck.
Is there a possibility of NUT being built into a Flatpak so all
distributions can use it.
If it was available on Flathub it would be a simple and foolproof way of
installing it.
Many thanks for a great application.

Preload error
When I open any wine session I get the following message in the console:
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib64/libv4l/v4l2convert.so' from /etc/ld.so.preload cannot be preloaded: ignored.
Is this significant? The 3-4 apps I have installed seem to work (with a few hiccups during installation) but I have no idea of what this error message implies.

that's what I thought at first, but there is no gimp-devel either
installed, or available.

[fdo] Freedesktop sdk aka 'tiny base runtime' project
Hi all,
So i wanted to kick off this mailing list by trying to round up a few
things which have been discussed recently, at GUADEC, in f2f
conversations afterwards, or shot over emails between a few people. It's
been discussed for a while that we want to create a tiny base runtime
with bst. The upshot is this will homogenize the metadata used in the
build process for Flatpak, GNOME

video problems
I've got an ancient USB videocam (QuickCam Express, yes, 15 years old).
I got it working under C7, after I removed the default loaded
gspca_spca561, and replaced it with the previous driver, gspca_spca508.
It also needed zc3xx.
Then I updated and rebooted my system a couple of days ago, and now no
/dev/video, no errors....
Any clues?
