Xorg crashes centos 5.1
From dmesg after the crash. Xorg[12774] general protection rip:2b3daaff218b rsp:7fff01440950 error:0 Anyone experiencing X11 crashes? I have an amd 6400+ centos 5.1 x86_64. This typically happens when I VNC in from home into my machine at work. My machine has nvidia card and I do run the binary drivers. However, I switched out for a short time and ran the nv driver and it happens there also.

Question on CentoS 7.4 on nvidia
I installed the elrepo kmod-nvidia and also the nvidia-detect and modules (see below). I had X working with the 3.10 from Centos - but video was freezing. SO I thought I would try the elrepo kernel. I installed that and X does not come up? How do I re-make the nvidia module for 4.14.5 kernel? I want to make sure the kmod kernel did it. I 'm thinking it did not. lspci | grep VGA says

nouveau driver one centos 6
I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default. I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver. I have tried a number of things: 1) in my kickstart package section add the line: -xorg-x11-drv-nouveau This did not work - it was still installed. 2) use the nvidia installer and it asks to create a modprobe.conf file to blacklist the driver. I said yes thats what I want.

systemd
Hi All - I have a systemd service file to start my application. Part of my service file is: [Service] Type=forking ExecStart=/path to start ExecStop=/path to stop RemainAfterExit=yes This works fine "normally". However - when I do a "yum update; and reboot" my script detects a kernel change and now does a number of "recompiling" steps for drivers and such before

X11 build
Morning... I have a package that I think wants to compile against the X11 source tree. http://openchrome.org - its a snapshot from there.... Anyway the command it tells me to run is: xmkmf /usr/src/xc make make install This is to build a updated X graphics driver... However when I do this I get errors as there is not /usr/src/xc (no surprise) I did then "up2date xorg-x11-sdk"

xorg-x11-drv-intel CR update breaks X server for Intel HD520
Hi, As a consequence of rolling out CR updates on Latitude E7470 (Skylake chipset), X would no longer start until I rolled back all of the xorg-\* packages. And to be more precise, looks like the culprit is xorg-x11-drv-intel: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1445583 as the CR package release version matches the one mentioned in Comment #2, in the regression context.
