RHEL 7 and guestmount of XFS volumes
Hi,
I'm experiencing a weird behavior when tried to use guestmount with a XFS
formatted volume. I have created a RHEL 8 virtual machine using libvirt. I
have retrieved the disk image on a RHEL 7.7 server to mount the image root
filesystem and explore it.
The command returns an error message:
# guestmount -a /disks/jamesdream.qcow2 -m /dev/sda1 /mnt/
libguestfs: error: mount_options: mount

How to perform an in-place upgrade for libvirt
Hello Experts,
Is it possible to perform an in-place upgrade for libvirt.
Assume, i have a CentOS 8 installation (choose server with GUI) with
libvirt version 4.5.1 and i want to upgrade the libvirt to version
6.0.0, how to implement a perfect replacement for all the related files
(libraries, header files, etc)?
Does anybody here has the experience for this?
Many Thanks!

bcc tools and bpftrace packages misbuilt?
After upgrading to 8.1.1911, bcc-tools and bpftrace seem to be broken.
Current package versions I have: bpftrace-0.9-3.el8.x86_64 and bcc-tools-0.8.0-4.el8.x86_64
Both of these seem to be pulling in LLVM version 7, rather than the version 8 that is in 8.1.1911:
[root at localhost ~]# bpftrace

perl Net::Interface module on CentOS 8
We have received a perl program that makes use of "Net::Interface" module
which I am trying to run on CentOS 8. However, running into issues as this
module is not found.
use Net::Interface;
I could use cpan to install the same, but currently using the rpm packages
for all the needs. Any idea which rpm package provides this perl module?
Thanks.

If you have set up an RPM build server then you should have installed
the rpmbuild and rpmdevtools packages. If you have installed the

Running libvirtd inside chroot (mock to be precise)
Hi,
I was wondering whether it's possible to run libvirtd inside a chroot
environment.
The assumption is that only one instance of libvirtd would be running on
the machine at a time, but still, inside chroot.
Currently in my chroot env I have:
- /dev/kvm added with mknod
- /dev/vhost-net added with mknod
- mounted:
- /dev/net
- /dev/shm
- /run/dbus
When I run libvirtd in

virt-sparsify for ntfs (libguestfs-tools-c)
Hi,
On CentOS 8, when using virt-sparsify for a ntfs image, it does not seem
to work.
Tried virt-sparsify on Fedora 32 and it works great.
Is there some dependent application that need to be installed in CentOS
8 for virt-sparsify to work on ntfs?
Here are some information.
CentOS 8.

is there a way, how to avoid this stupid "module" problem? Google didn't

CentOs 5.6 and Time Sync
Hi,
I have upgraded my Dell C151 to the latest 5.6. I have always used
ntp to sync this machine and then the rest of the machines in the
network would sync from it. Since the update I cannot keep the right
time on the machine. This is with / without ntp. I have attempted
various scenario's with no luck. I am now trying the old kernel now as I
type this out. If anyone else has any

building CentOS rpms?
Hello,
I'd like to get in to rpm building and am looking for a CentOS
specific document if any to get me going? I want to repackage an existing
rpm and give it different runtime options so it'll work on a server, and
make an rpm at least one probably more, and then submit them to the rpmforge
repo.
Googling showed me some old Suse docs on this subject. Any help
appreciated.
Thanks.

rpmbuild environment CentOS5 vs CentOS6
On CentOS5 I was used to create a simple spec file where at the end I'll
declare files and directories I wan't to package:
--< Snip >--
%files
%dir /opt/myapp
%dir /opt/myapp/bin
%dir /opt/myapp/etc
/opt/myapp/bin/exec01
/opt/myapp/etc/myapp.conf
----
I'll copy the file in /usr/src/redhat/SPECS and run "rpmbuild -bb
myapp.spec".
On CentOS6 rpm-build package no longer
