Problems with reposync and createrepo on CentOS 7 for RHEL8/CentOS8 repo?
Hi,
I tried to reproduce the issue but without success, everything seems
to be working fine (I've copied
repodata directory created by the reposync on Centos7 machine to RHEL8
server to /tmp/pg12repo directory):
RHEL8 # dnf search postgresql12 --repofrompath=a,/tmp/pg12repo --repoid=a

reposync
Hello,
During a reposync of the centos base mirror, how come there are more
packages downloaded than the iso file contains...
The iso's Packages directory contains 3956 rpm packages.
The reposync of base holds 6381 rpm packages.
This was done using centos's default yum repo file

Any alternatives for the horrible reposync
Hi,
I'm currently trying to mirror a couple of yum repositories and the only
tool that seems to be available for this is reposync.
Unfortunately reposync for some inexplicable reason seems to use the yum
config of the local system as a basis for its work which makes no sense
and creates all kinds of problems where cache directories and metadata
gets mixed up.
Are there any alternatives? Some

cobbler reposync fails when accessing the CentOS 6 extras repos
Hi everyone,
We are updating local repos from different mirrors using cobbler reposync.
This has been working fine for the longest time but started to fail a few
days ago (see below for failure details).
I first try to use a different mirror but that didn?t help.
This morning, I modified cobbler to disable the auto-update for the
centos/6/extras/i386/ and centos/6/extras/x86_64/ repos.

How to Mirror CentOS8 repository in CentOS7 Server via reposync
Hi
I'm running CentOS7 server as ImageServer and local repository server. And i need to mirror CentOS8 repository (http://mirror.centos.org/centos-8/8.1.1911/AppStream/x86_64/os/ ) in my CentOS7 Server.
If i mirror CentOS8 repository using repo sync command in CentOS7 it did
not properly mirror centos8 repository, due to that when i install
package from CentOS8 client machine

Error validating install location: Distro 'rhel8' does not exist in our dictionary
Hi,
I am running the below command to spawn CentOS8 based Virtual Machines
using KVM based technology
virt-install --name=centos8

Re: Error validating install location: Distro 'rhel8' does not exist in our dictionary
Hi,
if you run on a shell the command:
osinfo-query os
you will see that its:
rhl8.0 | Red Hat Linux 8.0
| 8.0 | http://redhat.com/rhl/8.0
so instead of rhel8, i suggest you to try rhl8.0
Good luck !
Greetings

Rhel8 guest and window resizing (possible OT)
I have installed a redhat 8 server in a KVM/Qemu VM guest to prepare for
CentOS 8.? The host is running Ubuntu 18.04.? Window resizing does not
work at all (it works in ubuntu and windows guests).? Is this a problem
with incompatible versions of spice or is there something else besides
the spice daemon that I should be looking at.? Does this work correctly
under CentOS 6 & 7 Host?

Difference between "CentOS Linux 8" and "RHEL8"
Hi,
I've read about all recent changes about workflow: Fedora>CentOS Stream.
I understood that in the end CentOS Linux (8) keeps on being "built from
publicly available open source source code provided by Red Hat, Inc for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux"[1]
Is that correct? I mean the only that changed are CentOS upstream (Fedora
and Centos Stream) didn't it?
Thanks in advance

Dovecot on CentOS8 / RHEL8
If you are planning to run dovecot on CentOS8 or RedHat 8 using native packages, please be aware that pigeonhole is not currently available (but they are working on it), see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1766985 . We are working on getting our CentOS8 packages available on repo.dovecot.org.

How to update MySQL with CentOS 6 in most unintrusive way - in regard to perl and PHP packages
Dear fellow CentOS users,
for my few hobby projects (web games + forums) I have been using CentOS 5
(then 6) with Drupal and PostgreSQL plus few custom PHP and Perl scripts
written by mysef.
Since PostgreSQL version delivered with CentOS package has been a bit
dated, I always used the PGDG packages:
# rpm -qa | grep -i pgdg
pgdg-centos93-9.3-1.noarch

Local repository via createrepo assumes apache?
I am looking at the howtos for using createrepo to make a local
repository. Like the one at:
http://jazzz1s.blogspot.com/2007/10/creating-local-yum-repository-centos.html
It seems that I need to run apache on the repository server. But I can
basically run with defaults?
All the howtos I have found address [base] and [update] but not others
like [add-on] should those be set up as well?
