ZFS fails with latest C8 kernel
As if last weekend's UEFI debacle wasn't bad enough, it now seems the
latest C8 kernel (4.18.0-193.14.2) is incompatible with the current
ZFSOnLinux packages (0.8.4-1). When booted to the latest kernel, ZFS is
inaccessible on my C8 storage server. When I back off to the prior
kernel (4.18.0-193.6.3), all is well.
If a local ZFS system is unavailable to the C8 kernel support folks,

It sounds like you have something installed that doesn't need to be or shouldn't be
installed. Under what circumstances does that message appear? I haven't seen it on any
of my C8 systems,

Problems installing CentOS 8
I'm having a problem installing CentOS 8 from a USB drive. When the
installer boots from the USB, it displays the language selection screen.
After I select English and continue, the installer freezes. The USB
drive flashes a couple times over the next minute or so, the stops. The
mouse moves the cursor, but the installer is unresponsive to either
selecting QUIT or HELP.

Web site not responding with Firefox 52.6.0 (64-bit)
I don't know if this is a CentOS7/Firefox problem or one with the distant
web site slashdot.org. I can connect to it just fine with the latest
Firefox on my Windows 10 desktop PC, but not with Firefox 52.6.0 on this
CentOS 7.4 laptop. This has been an on-going problem for several weeks.
Google search results are sketchy. slashdot.org may have been a DDOS
target today, but as I write this

C8 - Register with Red Hat
Everyone,
I am still in the low end of the learning curve with Centos 8, and keep getting warning
messages to register with Red Hat. Is this a requirement for C8. I do not have a user ID
with Red Hat; will they give a user ID for a Centos user.
"This system is not registered to Red Hat Subscription Management. You can use
subscription-manager to register."
Thanks,

I too am a solid fan of MATE. F28 had v1.16. F30 has the latest v1.22.
Is there any reason I should not try the latest? Perhaps some
dependencies not available in C8?

CentOS 8.0 1905 is now available for download
I feel your pain re Gnome.
Installing CentOS 8 on a VMware VM which uses BIOS boot mode using the graphical installer results in an installer gui which is chopped off at the right.
Workaround is to select the install option, hit the tab key, and append vga=819 and hit F10, which starts the graphical installer on a larger virtual display.
Or, better still, use EFI boot mode for your VM, and it

trouble installing centos 6.8
Dear all,
I'm having trouble installing Centos 6.8, in a VM using VirtualBox, and
hoping that someone on this distribution can help.
I'm running VirtualBox Version 5.1.4 r110228 (Qt5.5.1).
I downloaded .iso files for Centos 6.8:
- CentOS-6.8-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso
- CentOS-6.8-x86_64-bin-DVD2.iso
I proceeded to set up a new VM, selecting Linux / RedHat 64 bit. I
selected the DVD1 iso
