CentOS 8 as guest
Hi all ,
I am running C7, and C8 as guest at this time. I noticed that when right
click on desktop, and select display on C8 - that the largest resolution I
get is 1080p, I am running a 4K monitor - is there a way to get higher
resolution in the Guest.
I am running with qemu 2.0.0
Thanks,
Jerry

They aren't in the OS, so I would look at a secondary repository like
EPEL. It doesn't look like anyone has requested them there yet so I
would open a ticket in bugzilla.redhat.com to see if the

Hi Hui,
thanks for playing with the latest versions. Surprisingly, I can
reproduce even by hotplugging a DIMM instead as well - that's good, so
it's not related to virtio-mem, lol. Seems to be some QEMU setup issue
with older machine types.
Can you switch to a newer qemu machine version,

qemu uefi boot
I am trying to play with qemu uefi booting...
I found the OVMF package and installed it.
I added the "-bios /usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.secboot.fd" to my command line.
when running it says cannot load "/usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.secboot.fd"
The file is there. I'm trying this on CentOS 7.6
How do I correctly boot UEFI with qemu ?
Thanks

QEMU virt-manager video device
I am trying to use the Video Virtio device and set it to Virtio (to get
resolutions higher that 800x600).
My host is CentOS 7 and my guest is CentOS 8.
When I set the virtio for video - I get an add about QEMU does not support
'virtio' video device.
Do I not have something loaded ? Real question is how to get video higher
than 800x600. I tried every selection there Cirrus , QXL, VGA,

Centos 7 and qemu-kvm
Still trying to migrate to CentOS 7.
I used to use qemu-kvm on centos 6. tried to compile on
centos 7 and get error about undefined reference to timer_gettime
searching for that says basically use virt-manager
so I installed virt-manager - I have file images and those work.
some times I do directly to a USB connected disk.
I do not see how to do that in virt-manager ???

Perl script to locate F0 0F C7 C8 bombs
There is no known fix to the F0 0F C7 C8 bug at this time. What can be
done, however, is run a program, such as the script after my signature, to
locate any and all such programs. This script can be used in single
user mode after a mysterious lockup on a multiuser Pentium system.
I hope it is possible to come up with a software fix for this problem.

C8 Questions
I have all my issues posted on the forum - https://centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=71934
I'm using Xen and it seems to be an issue with pvgrub and grub2. No matter what I do, it always boots into the grubdom> prompt.
I made the changes suggested in the thread but can't get past that. HVM is fine but slow. PV just won't work.
Thank you,

qemu-kvm
I am running this command
/usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -no-acpi -smp 4 -m 2048 -drive
file=myimg.img,format=raw -vga std -device rtl8139
and expecting a window to open up for the console. It does not. This is on
CentOS 8.
Do I have something missing/not installed - or something wrong on the
command line.

BUG: unable to handle page fault for address nouveau_fence_new
(Apologies for any duplication, yesterday's e-mail doesn't seem to have
made it through moderation)
I've had several recent crashes of the nouveau kernel driver over the past
month or so.
My suspicion is that Firefox is causing it.
The screen goes black and then the computer reboots.
Nothing much in the syslogs, however I've managed to get netconsole output. I've

CentOS 7.3 and e1000e
Hi All - I have a box running the above. Power was lost long enough that
UPS did not work. When power came back on the C7 box boots way faster than
the switch and resulted in no network. power cycling the C7 box resulted in
network.
This even happened a second time. The only way to get the box back was to
power cycle. the box is remote and no keyboard and mouse connected.
Any thoughts on why
