CentOS 8: several packages have unresolved dependencies after "dnf update all "
All, While updating my package using dnf update all I allow dnf to clean some package with unresolved dependencies. I would like to reinstall some of them but got an error message "but none of the providers can be installed" during the install process as dnf is trying to install the dependencies. . This happens for some critical package like boost-openmpi-devel (see below for

CENTOS8: running wine 32 bits?
All, I need to run some legacy Windows software (32 bits) under my Linux box. I have installed wine from the source the 64 bits works fine but not the 32 bits. The ./configure gives ... *checking whether gcc -m32 works... no* *configure: error: Cannot build a 32-bit program, you need to install 32-bit development libraries.* and trying to install the require i686 packages results in a [

CentOS repo question
Hi All, I've just installed a test laptop with CentOS Stream 8.1. I notice that the default install has both CentOS-Base and CentOS-Base-Appstream repos enabled. Is that necessary, or should I just have the Appstream repos enabled. The reason I'm asking is because I'm having trouble updating the installation. The problem seems to be some installed rpms seem to depend on updates from

CENTOS8: running wine 32 bits?
Hi Philippe, To get wine-32 to work on CentOS 7.6 I had to build and install wine 1.8.4 from a tarball. Follow the instructions at: https://wiki.winehq.org/Building_Wine and build the 64-bit version first, then the 32-bit version. Before building either version I installed the following X11 devel pkgs from yum: libX11-devel.i686 libxcb-devel.i686 libXext-devel.i686 Depending on your setup

bcc tools and bpftrace packages misbuilt?
After upgrading to 8.1.1911, bcc-tools and bpftrace seem to be broken. Current package versions I have: bpftrace-0.9-3.el8.x86_64 and bcc-tools-0.8.0-4.el8.x86_64 Both of these seem to be pulling in LLVM version 7, rather than the version 8 that is in 8.1.1911: [root at localhost ~]# bpftrace bpftrace: error while loading shared libraries: libclangFrontend.so.7: cannot open shared object file:

log4j12 package in CentOS 8
According to the RHEL docs, package log4j was replaced with package log4j12 in RHEL 8.0. However, when I attempt to install the package in CentOS 8, dnf cannot find it. I have the Base, AppStream, Extras and PowerTools repos enabled. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
