CentOS 7: software RAID 5 array with 4 disks and no spares?
Hi Niki, md127 apparently only uses 81.95GB per disk. Maybe one of the partitions has the wrong size. What's the output of lsblk? CentOS 7: software RAID 5 array with 4 disks and no spares?
Hi, I just replaced Slackware64 14.1 running on my office's HP Proliant Microserver with a fresh installation of CentOS 7. The server has 4 x 250 GB disks. Every disk is configured like this : * 200 MB /dev/sdX1 for /boot * 4 GB /dev/sdX2 for swap * 248 GB /dev/sdX3 for / There are supposed to be no spare devices. /boot and swap are all supposed to be assembled in RAID level 1 across

multipath
I have inherited a system set up with multipath, which is not something I have seen before so I could use some advice The system is a Dell R420 with 2 LSI SAS2008 HBAs, 4 internal disks, and a MD3200 storage array attached via SAS cables. Oh and CentOS 6 lsblk shows the following: NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT sdd 8:48 0 931.5G 0 disk ??sdd1

large SCSI RAID, replacing server
I have a system running CentOS 6.3, with a SCSI attached RAID: http://www.raidweb.com/index.php/2012-10-24-12-40-09/janus-ii-scsi/2012-10-24-12-40-59.html For disaster recovery purposes, I want to build up a spare system which could take the place of the server hosting the RAID above. But here's what I see: # fdisk -l /dev/sdc WARNING: GPT (GUID Partition Table) detected on

Booting USBdeviceB [as root} from USBdeviceA:booter ?
My previous question: "can syslinux on a USBstik also boot installations on other USB devices ?" got no proper reply, so I'm now including more background detail. The new problem is that my 32bit partition of ETHOberon, only gives a proper font-size under Debian7:DVDinstaller:rescueMode, since I'm forced to use a laptop, after my previous systems were stolen. Neither gnome nor

Autodetecing RAID members upon boot... need to update initrd?
Hello fellow CentOS'ers- I've got a system running CentOS 5.0. The motherboard has two onboard SATA ports with two drives attached. I installed the system on a RAID1 setup. However, I'd like to add a hotspare disk to the array. Since there are no additional SATA ports, I've installed an additional controller. After partitioning, the additional drive was easily and successfully

isohybrid boot from logical partition
Thanks for the clarification Thomas. Thomas Schmitt wrote: > (Did you already tell which partitions exist and in which one do you want > to put your ISO ?) I've tried a number of different structures, but the results are consistent (boots fine from primary partitions, not from logical partitions). For example for a disk partitioned like below: Disk /dev/sdc: 3.8 GiB, 4007657472

[PATCH] Rename mdadm_ apis to md_
This change renames the following 2 apis: * mdadm_create -> md_create * mdadm_detail -> md_detail This is more consistent with list_md_devices, and removes a reference to an implementation detail from the api. --- daemon/md.c | 24 ++++++++++++------------ generator/generator_actions.ml | 4 ++-- regressions/test-list-filesystems.sh | 2 +-

Problem with mdadm, raid1 and automatically adds any disk to raid
Hi. CENTOS 7.6.1810, fresh install - use this as a base to create/upgrade new/old machines. I was trying to setup two disks as a RAID1 array, using these lines mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=0 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1 mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md1 --level=0 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb2 /dev/sdc2 mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md2 --level=0 --raid-devices=2

LSI MegaRAID system status
Dear list, I have inherited a CentOS-5 box with a LSI Sata Raid controller. It is configured as a RAID5 w/hot-standby. My concern is that I have no present means of determining the RAID status w/o downing the system and going into the bios to get status. If a disk has failed and brought the standby disk online, I would like to know about it, the day it happens by seeing it in syslog or getting

Hi guys, sorry if this is trivial, but I have been googling a couple days and already compromised a test disk trying to figure this out, so I thought it is time to ask for some advice. I have a disk that comes from a clean and working CentOS4.2 install, and I am trying to use an external usb to ide converter to mount it on another workstation with CentOS4.2. I am trying this to better
