locate would require to install that package and run updatedb
first. But, it would save time looking for files that have been
already added to its db, specially compared to running

Wouldn't a "find grub / find grub*"....or "locate grub / locate grub*"
work?...

You're probably on an EFI system, and your grub.cfg is in a different
location. Can't remember it off the top of my head, but do
# find /boot -name 'grub.cfg'

PV-GRUB chainloading Grub2
Hey guys,
what I am trying to do is a chainload into grub2 installation in a DomU. So far I determined, PV-GRUB does not understand grub2''s grub.cfg notation. So I created a dummy menu.lst which has the needed root kernel and initrd rows and then referenced this to the DomUs config. The main intention to do this, is to be able to use kernel upgrades without touching the menu.lst for

Re-enable grub boot in UEFI (Windows took over it)
Hello there,
Dell XPS-15-9560 laptop (SSD drive, UEFI, secure boot off).. Windows 10
pre-installed, CentOS7 installed in a separate partition and running
for months w/o issue. Don't know what happened but at reboot yesterday
(not even booted in Windows, just rebooted), grub has disappeared,
booted in Windows by default, which apparently has taken over the UEFI
boot.
By booting from a USB

[PATCH 2/2] v2v: bootloaders: look for device.map also in /boot/grub (Grub2)
On Debian-based systems, Grub2 is in /boot/grub (as already known after
commit 03b9f2b967c4c61a5acda6a3802317be109d213e), so make sure
device.map is changed even in this situation.

GRUB2 configuration for Xen 4 on Ubuntu Linux 10.04
Hello,
I have installed the Xen 4.1.1 and a working kernel 2.6.32.43 which supports
Xen on a Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS. However, I have never successfully booted
the Hypervisor and Dom0. The screen is always black after some kernel
messages rapidly go by. I think that I may pass the wrong parameters to the
kernel or Hypervisor with GRUB2.
Can any one share his/her working grub.cfg for GRUB2 with

CentOS 7 grub.cfg missing on new install
Greetings -
The short story is that got my new install completed with the partitioning I
wanted and using software raid, but after a reboot I ended up with a grub
prompt, and do not appear to have a grub.cfg file. So here is a little
history of how I got here, because I know in order for anyone to help me
they would subsequently ask for this information. So this post is a little
long, but

Kernel updates do not boot - always boots oldest kernel
This issue has been around for some months, but other things keep
crowding out a fix.
uname give me
3.10.0-1160.36.2.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Jul 21 11:57:15 UTC 2021
yet I have
3.10.0-1160.76.1.el7.x86_64
3.10.0-1160.81.1.el7.x86_64
3.10.0-1160.83.1.el7.x86_64
3.10.0-1160.88.1.el7.x86_64
loaded.
The system uses UEFI to boot.
sudo ls -l /sys/firmware/efi
gives:
total 0

Cannot turn iommu on inside guest
So I want to turn iommu support on in a guest ( <type arch='x86_64'
machine='pc-q35-4.1'>hvm</type>). Per [1] I tried to add to devices
either
<devices>
<iommu model='intel'>
<driver intremap='on'/>
</iommu>
</devices>
or just a simpler
<devices>
<iommu model='intel /'>
</devices>

Kernel updates do not boot - always boots oldest kernel
OK,
found out the problem as to why it doesn't boot any kernel except 36.2
the system reports that it cannot find
vmlinuz-3.10.0-1160.88.1.el7.x86_64
or any one of the others, except for vmlinuz-3.10.0-1160.36.2.el7.x86_64
hence a manual selection from the grub menu when in front of the machine
will only load the 36.2 kernel
I found that under /boot/grub2 there were two .rpmnew files

adding xen support to grub2 got segfault running grub2-mkimage
There is some interest lately in making a self-contained grub2 boot image - call it pvgrub2, used for booting paravirtual domU in xen where a grub2 config is installed.
First attempt------------------
I first tried using the grub2*.src.rpm from the C7 vault.
I configured as shown belowhttps://blog.xenproject.org/2015/01/07/using-grub-2-as-a-bootloader-for-xen-pv-guests/
for headers, I used

[PATCH v3 2/2] v2v: ilnux: detect name of grub2-mkconfig
On Debian family of OSes Grub2 tools are prefixed with 'grub-', not with
'grub2-'. We have to detect the correct name of the tool to use it.

How to glue com32 module in grub2 ?
Hello Erwan and others,
I am running HDT from grub2 with memdisk. I have informed the success of
booting hdt to the grub2 list. Some developers are very much interested
to this issue and they are showing their interest to make a glue
between com32 and grub2 so that hdt can be loaded without memdisk. It
is really very exciting to have hdt as an inbuilt feature of grub2.
Could any one kindly

Multiple grub2 Users with Passwords
Hello All,
I am trying to set multiple users with passwords for modifying grub2
menu entries at boot. I know I can set a "root" user grub2 password with
grub2-setpassword. I have also been able to make a grub2 user password
using the grub2-mkpasswd-pbkdf2 command and adding
??? set superusers="user1"
to the /etc/grub.d/40_custom file. However, I have multiple user
