External HD partitioning & formatting considerations
I strongly dislike moving removable disks between computers, especially with differing operating systems. I would instead recommend getting/building a NAS aka file server and using the network to share files, or make backups, or whatever. enlarging partition and its filesystem
Hi all! I've got a VM at work running C6 on HyperV (no, its not my fault, that's what the company uses. I'd rather gag myself than own one of th ose things.) I ran out of disk space in the VM, so the admin enlarged the virtual disk. but now I realize I don't know how to enlarge the partition and its filesystem. I'll be googling, but in case I miss it, it'd be great if

Using Pulse Audio--question
Hi all! This seems to me as if it should be a trivial thing to do, but so far I've wasted a lot of time on it and gotten nowhere: I want to feed audio from a source (ipod, other player) into the audio input on my C7 box via either the phone jack or an external USB sound "card" I have, then I want to play it via the speakers connected to the system. I can find no way to do it with

trouble isntallint 5.2 in virtualbox
Hi! I'm using Virtualbox 3.08, have several other VMs in it, but cannot boot the Centos 5.4 (i386) DVD far enough to even reach Anaconda... I've tried all the various virtualbox and boot options I can think of and it always sticks in the same place: NetLabel: unlabeled traffic allowed by default NET: Registered protocol family 2 and there it hangs. I've left it for several

CentOS 5.6 to 5.7 upgrade
Hi all, Almost wish I had something more exciting to say regarding the 5.6 to 5.7 upgrade, but it just worked flawlessly. Physical as well as virtual machines. If you have not set up forwarding for port 22 on the router, it is already closed. You do not need to do anything. If you want to verify this, just

This server has three network cards in it. I just disabled (unconfigured) eth1 and configured eth2 with the external IP address and whatnot. Plugged in the modem to eth2 and away she goes.

CentOS 7 installer bug?
The other admin I work with seems to have found a bug in the installer. The setup is: two internal SSD drives. Once the GUI gets to "select drive to install on", he goes to <ctl><alt><f2>, creates a RAID 1, and partitions it, regular MBR (they're small). 1G for /boot as the first partition, 2G for swap as the second partition, and the rest for / as partition 3.
