Possible Font problem with CentOS 7
This is caused by the colour profile settings in your terminal program (gnome-terminal, mate-terminal, whatever).
Edit-Prefrences-Colors
I generally just check "use colors from system theme" but I suppose that would depend on what you're using for a system theme. But the setting you need to fix is under Text and Background Color.

gedit font size
We recently installed CentOS 7 on a system. We chose the GNOME
desktop install option and have used yum to install all of the
available updates.? The first run of yum update yielded about
450 megabytes of items to be installed or updated. All of the
updates have been successful.
One issue with our new CentOS system is that some users want
to use gedit, but the displayed font size is extremely

quantstrat questions
Quantstrat useRs,
I have a number of questions about how to use quantstrat that I have accumulated since I have begun playing with it. First, can the orderqty be dynamic? All of the examples I have seen are based on placing an order for 100 shares when a rule is triggered. Is it possible to set it up to buy the maximum number of shares given the starting or current equity? Similar to that

Quantstrat; error with applyStrategy()
I'm testing out quantstrat using a simple one-indicator strategy.
The error I get after applyStrategy(...) is

CentOS 5 Beta - Yum Updates?
I am new to CentOS. I mostly use
Fedora Core. I installed the CentOS 5 Beta
on a test machine from the DVD. I configured
it with both KDE and Gnome. I am using
the default YUM configurtion which loaded
with the DVD.
Unlike FC7T2, CentOS 5 Beta does not seem to pick
up Yum updates. Is this by design or do I
need to add repos to my /etc/yum.repos.d?
Thanks for any suggestions

Hello. [Resending the message from a subscribed address]
I'm Luca Saiu. I'm part of a small but very motivated team in France,

[Puppet Upgrade] Puppet agent does not work
I upgraded Puppet master from 2.7.6 to 2.7.20 on CentOS5.8_x86_64.
But when I tried to launch ''puppet agent -t'' on one of staging servers, the
puppet daemon did not work and got heaps errors.
I have no idea what made it wrong and how to fix it.

Specific Font with wine
Hi !
I run Wine 20050211 on RedHat 9. I would like run an application which
use 4 specific fonts (.FON under windows).
I read the manual (winehq.org/site/docs/wine-user/config-fonts-main) and
follow the instructions. But it seems not working ...
1. I convert .fon files to .bdf and to .pcf. I moved the .pcf files to
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc. I'm not sure here to have correct files because

Just need to vent
Sometimes the direction of UI development in gnome really angers me.
For example, when selecting a font for the gedit text editor - there is
no way to ask it to only show monospace fonts.
It's a fricken text editor, that should be the default - meaning you
have to do something special to get fonts shown that aren't monospace.
Seriously, who is in charge with the UI design in gnome?

Disable auto window maximize
Job #1 for me with CentOS 7 is to disable the automatic window maximization.
Some googling found this command:
$ gsettings set org.gnome.mutter auto-maximize false
No such schema 'org.gnome.mutter'
and this:
$ gsettings set orh.gnome.shell.overrides edge-tiling false
but that had no visible effect.
I couldn't find anything under Applications->documentation and I didn't see

Incorrect characters in Chinese font
I frequently exchange e-mails, read and write documents and visit Chinese websites although the language of my computer is English.
As I was translating a Chinese document yesterday, I had three characters I was not able to translate and after much hair-pulling realized to my surprise that they may be incorrectly drawn in Centos 7. These very characters in the same document were drawn correctly

um...
no.
going way back to "triumph of the nerds",
the number-one example steve jobs used
to symbolize the absence of any esthetics
at microsoft (and thus -- by extension --
inside the head of bill gates) was the fact
they found a monospaced font acceptable.
