I/O resource -- not free --- IRDA problems?
I get a message while booting of:
ide2: I/O resource 0x3EE-0x3EE not free.
ide2: ports already in use, skipping probe
Googling for this, I find it is relatively common, and on different laptops.
I thought it might be my internal SD reader causing the problems, but
these other notebooks do not have such devices. Then I found:

Probs with Routing (CentOS7 , KVM)
Hi there,
I've installed a new KVM-Server. The routing in all instances are only
working after "arp -s ip_of_router mac_of_router"
Server: CentOS7, KVM
Clients: CentOS6 and Fedora 21
What going wrong?

kernel oops/IRQ exception when networking between many domUs
Hi,
I try to build experimental networks with Xen and stumbled over the same
problem that has been described quite well by Mark Doll in his posting
"xen_net: Failed to connect all virtual interfaces: err=-100"
here:
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2005-04/msg00447.html
As it was still present in 2.0.6, I tried 3.0-devel and found NR_PIRQS

Your report is not very clear. Is it just the routing from the guests

MythTV on Centos 4
I'm starting a project to build a MythTV box for my living room. Anyone else
currently working with MythTV on CentOS 4?
Here are some of the gotcha's I've worked through so far:
- I was originally planning on using KnoppMyth. But their CD appears to be only for
i386. Without realizing it, the P4 CPU I picked is one of the newer ones with the
x86_64 extensions. It won't boot

How to transform matrices to ANOVA input datasets?
Hello, R experts,
I have a list called dataHP which has 30 elements (m1, m2, ..., m30).
Each element is a 7x6 matrix holding yield data from two factors
experimental design, with treatment in column, position in row. For
instance, the element 20 is:
dataHP[[20]]
col1 col2 col3 trt1 trt2 trt3

Packages installation in CentOs
Hi,
I have a customized CentOS 5.5 kernel. I want it to upgrade it to CentOS 7.
The approach I have decided was to take the CentOS 7 and then install the
customized packages that are there in the CentOS 5.5.
While trying to install the customized packages, I could install most of
the packages, but I couldn't install the below in the latest CentOS 7.
1. rhpl
2. mod_perl
3.

CentOS 7.5 x86_64 ISO with Kernel 4.x
Hi there,
I can't boot my new Laptop (HP Elitebook 840 G) with
CentOS-7-x86_64-LiveKDE-1804.iso. Boot proccess stops very quick with
kernel panic.
Is there a ISO-Image with more recent kernel, maybe 4.17 from elrepo?

The kernel does not rely on userspace libraries.

Ruby on Rails w/Dreamhost - routes problem...I think.
I am trying to deploy my first app on Dreamhost using Ruby on Rails. I
followed the wiki, but I think I am missing something. I think it may
be in my RoR code, but I am not sure.
My app runs fine when run as
http://localhost:3000/AddPatientVisit/addvisits
AddPatientVisit is the controller and addvisits is the form that posts
back to the controller.
I got rid of the index.html in public

rsync -f ?
hello,
I'm new with rsync (shame on me ignoring this great tool for many years!)
For the following question I could not get an answer from the docs:
Is it possible to run rsync in a force mode like `cp -f? for overwriting
files without write permission? I need this for a local rsync.
What I'm actually doing is to run
`find . -type f -perm u-w -exec chmod u+w {} \;?
on the destination

Memory issues in R
How do people deal with R and memory issues?
I have tried using gc() to see how much memory is used at each step.
Scanned Crawley R-Book and all other R books I have available and the FAQ
on-line but no help really found.
Running WinXP Pro (32 bit) with 4 GB RAM.
One SATA drive pair is in RAID 0 configuration with 10000 MB allocated as
virtual memory.
I do have another machine

Monitoring FS operations
Greetings All,
Without going into the specific reasons why I need to do so, is anyone
aware of a method (or tool) of watching real-time, human-readable (or
system call print) of ext3 filesystem operations on a mounted, active
filesystem?
Excuse me if this is a duplicate question but I was unable to find any
similar ones in the archives.
Thanks in advance!

Re: PolarProTrainer
Hi James.
Tanks for reply.
It's been a hvile - I have no knowledge of this and lost interest in the matter.
Now using Ubuntu 10.04 and allways latest Wine, but does not work.
For others :
Problem 1.
IRDA protocoll must be working. First install in Ubuntu, so in Wine - I've heard ?
The miniCD PolarIRDA (SigmaTel) contains Linux drivers, but I do not know howto.....
On Mac it has to be on

inverse prediction and Poisson regression
Hello to all, I'm a biologist trying to tackle a "fish" (Poisson Regression) which is just too big for my modest understanding of stats!!!
Here goes...
I want to find good literature or proper mathematical procedure to calculate a confidence interval for an inverse prediction of a Poisson regression using R.
I'm currently trying to analyse a "dose-response"

using running - should it always restart?
Hi,
I am fairly new to using puppet, but have it setup on 25 machines.
Just doing some basic configuration management. Recently I decided to
try working with updating some services config files and used the
ensure => running tags. My question is simple - if the source file
does NOT change and I use a subscribe, why does the system keep
restarting the daemon every time puppet runs?
A simple

Trimming the fat out of a Centos 4.4 Installation
Hi, just to avoid re-inventing the wheel, is there any document that
can help me reduce even further a "minimum" installation of Centos 4.4
(BTW can you say 600mb is minimum)?
I am in the process of creating a small Centos-4.4-based Asterisk box
and I need to boot it from a CF card. Deleting useless packages will
help me do what i want.
Example: even a minimum install of Centos 4.4 (or
