Smart cards, mostly solved
So, it *seems* to be working, pretty much. I needed to install
opensc, openct pcsc-lite, pcsc-lite-openct, and ctapi-common will be
installed as a dependency.
I *removed* coolkey and esc, which depended on it. 100% of the time, they
misidentifed the new/current US federal ID PIV-II cards as coolkey cards,
and popped up this "phone home" window, then a "manage smartcards"

IPv6 DUID
Does anyone have a utility or method to show the IPv6 DUID for a client
system without relying on looking through a DHCP server's logs or
waiting until after a request is made?
I'd like to determine a client's DUID before I set it up for IPv6, that
way I can have it configured in the dhcpd6.conf file for a static
assignment before it gets set up.
I really don't care if

pcscd
Anyone working with/using it? One thing that's driving me nuts is that it
keeps spitting garbage into the logs (card absent or mute!!!). I just
tried editing /etc/init.d/pcscd - there's *no* way to pass parms from the
config file - and set the logging level to --error, and it's still doing
it.
Clues for the poor, to shut it up?

CentOS 6, firefox, PIV cards
Hi, folks,
Up until a few weeks ago, it worked as it has been for years: firefox,
security device is libcoolkey, and pcscd.
Today, I go to use it (I have done updates sine I last used it), and
try preferences->advanced->certificates, and it hangs. My most recent
try was for over 20 min. If you move something over the window, then
move it away, it's a blank window. Pull out the

mysterious weekly shutdown
I have a Centos 5.4 machine that has, for the past two weeks, apparently
been shut off over the weekend. It's just sitting there turned off on
Monday morning and when someone hits the power switch it comes right
back on and everything works again.
This happened last weekend, and again over this past weekend.
Here is /var/log/messages from shortly before it apparently shut down
this weekend.

6.3: service not starting?
Before I roll it out to users for their workstations, I updated my own
system to 6.3, just did an update a few minutes ago, then rebooted. Came
up... but when I went to use my PIV card for credentials to certain other
machines, it didn't read the card. I found that pcscd was not running -
when I did a service restart, it said "failed" on shutdown, then ok on
startup. chkconfig --list

card reader issue
I have never done anything with a card reader before so I have no idea what I'm
doing here.
I have a laptop with a card reader in it and when I put the card in I see this

This comes up many times in the log. I suspect that this means that I'm

System hang during shutdown (halt)
Alle,
I'm running V5.3 (newly installed) on an FJ E8020 laptop. The problem I
have is when shutting down (*not* rebooting). NetworkManager fails to
stop and after (during?) the postfix shutdown, the system seems to hang.
I cannot access via another screen or remotely. I can't find any clues
in the log files. I could use some suggestions on troubleshooting.

Xen guest and samba
Hello,
I am new to this list, but having been using CentOS for sometime.
I recently installed CentOS 5 on a test server to check out Xen. The
installation was smooth had so far I have everything working except I
cannot get samba to join our AD domain from the xen guest, using
para-virtualization, I setup. I am out of ideas, and cannot find anyone
having similar problems.

fc6 guest x server / vnc problems
I''ve succesfully installed FC6 domU under RHEL5-beta2 dom0 with
virt-manager. I could open
a graphical vnc console from virt-manager with no probs and use domU''s
gnome desktop.
After few days of running the guest I''ve updated it with yum and been
using it mostly
via xm console. Now I tried to use the graphical console, but all

firefox unable to load pkcs11 module
Hi Tony,
Have you solved this problem yet?I took another approach and used CACkey which supportsUS Government PIV cards including the CAC.? In my case I set it up on Linux Mint but there is an rpm version of CACKey for 32 or 64 bit Centos. Here is the process I went through.
- setup CAC card by following instructions on:
