Conky on CentOS 8
Hi
I've been using conky in conjunction with gcalcli on Scientific Linux 7
to display google calendar data on screen.
In CentOS 8, I have set up the gcalcli part, but I can't find a conky
rpm. Is anyone working on creating this for CentOS 8? There appears to
be an rpm for fedora 28 onwards, but there are dependency issues.
Can anyone help?

Monitoring a remote server with Conky ?
Hi,
I've been using Conky for some time, a nifty utility to monitor just
about anything on the PC. Vital things like CPU, RAM, swap, disks,
current song playing in MPD :o)
Here's what it looks like :

And with more detail :

Now I wonder... I'd really like to use that to monitor my

DESCRIPTION.in file causes R CMD check to fail?
hi. i'm building a package using autotools. to propagate the package
version number from configure.ac to DESCRIPTION, i'm using a
DESCRIPTION.in file. both of these files are "shar"'d below.
i need to distribute the DESCRIPTION.in file, as ./configure will need
it. but, "R CMD check" wants to look at DESCRIPTION, so i've let that
also come into the package

Visualization and desktop page
Hi, all.
How appropriate would a visualization and desktop "prettification" page
be? I know like myself a lot of people use CentOS not only as their
server, but also as their main desktop system.
This page could be for used for adding desktop magic programs, tips,
tricks, and visualizations.
I was going to write a guide for installing and using Conky, if so.

Launch applications on GNOME startup ?
Hi,
I just installed and configured Conky, and I'd like to automatically
launch it whenever I start a GNOME session. I expected to see some sort
of Preferences>Launch Applications on Startup, some user-specific
equivalent of rc.local, but there doesn't seem to be such an entry.
Any suggestions?

Unmet dependency prevents r-gnome installation in Debian stable (PR#7151)
Full_Name: Kimmo Uusitalo
Version: 1.8.0-1
OS: Debian 3.0 "Woody"
Submission from: (NULL) (128.214.205.4)
r-gnome 1.8.0-1 requires gdk-imlib2 which is not available in Debian 3.0 stable.
I have the following in /etc/apt/sources.list :
deb http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian woody main
Btw, it would be very nice to have the newest version of R even for Debian
stable.

Source RPM please
Hi,
I''m a long ext3 user (rpmfind.net). I propagated ext3 on some of our
server box (W3C webservers are ext3 based too now).
I might be tempted of testing out your kernel RPMs but unavailability
or the source RPM and the SMP version are definite showstoppers. Please
provide them. In the meantime I will stick to my own set of kernel ext3
RPMs at ftp://rpmfind.net/pub/veillard/ext3/

how to list external dependencies (i.e., non-R packages)?
hi. i'm working on a package which only works if one (or both) of two
libraries (Imlib2 and MagickWand) exist on the machine on which the
package is compiled and executed. as currently written, the program
purposely generates an error at *compile* time if neither library is
available (thinking the earlier the user is notified, the less
frustrating).
is there a way of specifying this

how to install ash on CentOS 5.4?
Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to install ash on CentOS 5.4, or
just CentOS 5, for that matter? I'm trying to install OpenQRM which
requires ash, but ash doesn't exist in the repositories. rpmfind.net
als only has an older version listed, for CentOS 4

Please make the journal file unmodified by user processes
Please forbid user level process to touch or unling the journal
file when the partition is ext3 mounted ... at all !
So far this weakness has been my main problem when using ext3
on production systems. Happened to rpmfind machines a couple of times,
at best a program removed the journal inode from the FS list and
it cannot be mounted at next reboot. At worse the content of the
journal.dat is

Sorry, I should have done that, I do tend to fix stuff I find while
coding and neglect splitting up afterwards. Bad me.
