The error message given by Windows is that the server is online but not responding. However the Samba logs say otherwise. I have attached the logs for a failed connection attempt from Windows 10, and those for

How secure is SMB3 over internet?
Hello, How secure is SMB3 over Internet? I see that Microsoft Azure is doing SMB3 shares over internet so they seem to think it's secure. Does the SAMBA team recommend this type of scenario OR do they recommend instead running it over a SSH tunnel/VPN?

client max protocol = SMB3 ?
Hi All, The man page for smb.conf says that 'client max protocol = default' is the same as 'client max protocol = NT1' for the HEAD samba version. Is there some reason I should not change that to SMB3? Thanks! Chad.

CentOS update broke Samba
Running CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908. Have Samba running as our fileserver on our (mostly) Windows network. Samba async performance - bottleneck or bug?
Hi, I have a ZFS dataset that has sync writes disabled (setting sync=disabled) which means that it will only do async writes, and sync requests get converted to async writes. The ZFS dataset is hosted on a single Samsung 840 Pro 512GB SATA SSD. I have this same dataset served as a Samba share, using Proxmox VE 6. Samba version 4.9.5-Debian (Buster), protocol SMB3_11. Kernel version 5.0.15. To

Unable to contact active directory or verify claim types

All users and groups in AD have unix uidNumbers and gidNumbers assigned. On one file server, I am having problems where some users can not access files , via windows, to which they should have access as the group member. For example,
