MIDI on a VM
I have an application (Frescobaldi/Lilypond) that generates and plays
MIDI files. Due to problems with flatpak I can only run it on C8 or
Fedora, both of which live on VMs. The host is running C7. I've tried
"adding hardware", specifically a virtual sound card, to the VMs, but
still they remain silent. How do I connect the virtual sound cards to
the physical sound card so that I

CentOS 6.2 software raid 10 with LVM - Need help with degraded drive and only one MBR
CentOS Community,
I have a dedicated server with 4 hard drives in a RAID 10 software
configuration running LVM. My OS is CentOS 6.2. Earlier today, I
rebooted my system and my system did not come back online. I opened a
ticket with my datacenter who informed me that one of my hard drives is
no longer recognized by the bios and has failed. I was told that an OS
reinstall was needed.

libvirt and VMWare Workstation Shared Server mode (of GSX history)
Hi everyone,
I searched previous postings and I couldn't find a definitive answer on
this..
I run a small lab of RHEL/Centos Based servers on which there's VMWare
Workstation running on a non-standard port but still manageable by tools
like VMrun (and the Fusion of Workstation GUI, of course).
I'm trying to use virsh with this setup and getting the following error

For direct upload, a suitable host must be in status 'Up'
and belong to the same datacenter as the created disk.

Question about dhcpd.leases
Hi,
I'm running a DHCP server on my local network. I've noticed something
that puzzles me. Leases are written to /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases, but
only - so it seems to me - if the address is not fixed in any way in
dhcpd.conf.
Here's a few stanzas of my dhcpd.conf :
host babasse {
hardware ethernet 00:0d:61:ae:6b:8f;
fixed-address 192.168.1.1;

Forums down?
All day I've been getting "Sorry but you cannot use search at this time.
The server has high load. Please try again later." from

Is there a problem?

What's your dd command? Are you sure you are writing to the raw disk
and not inside a partition?

CentOS 8.0 1905 is now available for download
Heads up, Hyper-V Gen 2, CentOS 8 Server with GUI install results in a black screen as updates are needed for X to properly detect and load the video. If you can ssh into the box, do a yum update and it should grab the needed updates, then reboot.

dhcp server
Hi all,
this is my first post on this list, hope someone can help me.
I have to run a dhcp server on CentOS release 5.5 (Final).
# yum list| grep -i dhcp
dhcp.x86_64 12:3.0.5-23.el5 installed
dhcp-devel.x86_64 12:3.0.5-23.el5 installed
dhcpv6-client.x86_64 1.0.10-18.el5 installed
after starting the dhcpd daemon, the windows Clients on the subnet
(192.168.100.0/24) tells me, that there is no

dhcp annoyances
Well, googling has failed me. We've got a pxeboot setup, but we keep
getting, in the logs,
parse_option_buffer: malformed option dhcp.bootfile-name (code 67): option
length exceeds option buffer length. This is CentOS 6.2
The section for those machines that can pxeboot is:
group {
allow booting;
allow bootp;
filename "pxelinux.0";
