Not sure why a screen shot would ever be cached - Not sure if this is what

EXT3 and SAN Snap Shot, Best practice?
As RedHat has a limited choice of file systems it supports, I have a
need to use EXT3 together with Oracle and a SAN SnapShot (3Par
Snapclone). I was wondering if anyone could give me some feed back as to
the "best" method to do that.
So far I am thinking:
Put Oracle into Backup mode
Run sync (or multiple times)
Execute Snapshot command on SAN (takes less then 1 second).
Take Oracle

Long shot... Order Logix
Has anyone ever integrated the software from order logix into their system?
This is primarily an API driven, pulled from a SQL database and stored for a
client to access... Order Logix deals primarily with Call Centers, it pulls
the information from the SQL database, and will allow access for the client
to pull the recording and all associated call information... I know its a

Re: parting shot re nVIDIA on Linux
Hey,
I only got a Voodoo Banshee because one was up for
auction locally, and I could get it cheap. I also had
good results with a cheapie S3 card.
I suspect that most any other card might work better
than nVIDIA.
So if you want to "cut the Gordian knot" and solve the
problems fast, F**K nVIDIA, and try any other display
card.

one-shot raid mirror to remote?
I have a filesystem on a RAID1 partition created with a 'missing'
mirror so I can periodically sync with an external drive for
backup. Now I'd like to move the contents to a different machine
that has a matching partition with minimal downtime. Is it
possible to export the new partition via iscsi or an nbd device
so that the old system will sync to it over the network allowing

I'd probably turn it into a puppet manifest or ansible playbook, and
use that to

I think you can pull this off with `yum shell`. First, though, don't do
`rpm -qa` as

This looks pretty much like what I had in mind.
Great! Thanks!

It wouldn?t be a one liner except in the most general sense that you

That wouldn't remove the unneeded packages on the second system.

FW: R double shot?
Hi all,
Here is another slightly basic question. I am running Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop. I've been meaning to use R for my work at school. I know I installed one of the debian binaries, because I went through all the process of setting up the repositories, fetching keys, and the command line instructions that you find here<http://http://cran.stat.auckland.ac.nz/>.
I let that sit for a

using lme on multiple datasets in one shot
Dear list,
I would like to do a huge number of lme's using the same design matrix
(and fixed and random effects). Is it possible to do this efficiently?
Doing otherwise is not an option for my example.
Basically, I am wanting to do the following which is possible using lm:
X <- matrix(rnorm(50),10,5)
Y <- matrix(rnorm(50),10,5)
lm(Y~X)
with lme. Any suggestions?
Many thanks and

One time shot feed params from development
I got a confirmation on my development system that should have gone to
the production system and so I have a ''Post'' set of data which I know
from my development logs that I want to feed to my production system.
Is there some easy way to do this in the console or do I have to try to
recreate it with wget or a web browser?

Asterisk/SIP Issue - Long Shot
Hi,
This is a bit of a long shot and I don't have much information on what
is actually happening...
Our production Asterisk system: ~2,000 SIP handsets, (2) Digium
TE220s, Asterisk 1.6.2.18, RHEL 5 x86_64
Every few weeks, or few months, or X amount of time, the SIP portion
of Asterisk seems to hang/die. Nothing abnormal in the typical
Asterisk logs; the "rest" of Asterisk still

The objective is not to cherry pick updates, but rather to install a second system with packages that match the first system. After fine-tuning the installed packages and stripping out the
