Installing Centos 7 on 4K laptop
I have recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7570 laptop with a 4K display on which I want to install Centos 7. I had some problems with the first install and am therefore redoing the install. One problem is the minuscule font, both in the text window and in the graphic installer. It has been suggested that I should add nomodeset to the grub installer. There is an option to use TAB to complete

Hibernation disabled when mailbox selected
After setting imap_hibernate_timeout to 60s, I could not find any hibernated connections after a few hours. I tested hibernation and made an observation: IDLE'd imap sessions only hibernate if they don't have a mailbox SELECT'd, otherwise they never hibernate. Is this the way it's supposed to work? [RFC PATCH 0/8] virtio: Support for hibernation (S4)
Hello, These patches are an initial attempt at supporting hibernation for virtio drivers. The default configuration of event_index=on doesn't work; i.e. restore from a hibernated image only works if the devices have event_index support turned off. I have not yet dug into this, but is most likely due to some state not being sync'ed. This could be related to the hack that is patch 3.

Disable "Hibernation" option ?
Hi, In my GNOME System menu (in French) there are basically the following options : - Lock screen - Hibernate - Close session - Shut down Is there any way to disable the "Hibernate" option ? In the past, I've accidentally clicked on it, which put the computer to sleep, only it refused to wake up after that. Maybe some package to uninstall ? But which one ? Cheers, Niki

Windows 7 caching credentials breaks with hibernation
I am running Samba 3.5.5 on Solaris 10. I have one machine as a PDC, one as a BDC. If I logon to the domain from a Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) laptop, hibernate the machine, unplug the network cable and wake the machine, I can not unlock the screen. I will get the message "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request." Other users have reported this.

Swap space and hibernation on Centos 7
I just reinstalled Centos 7 on my Dell Inspiron 15 7570. This time I created a swap partitition that is 24 Gb in size since the machine has 16 Gb of memory. Still unable to hibernate with 'systemctl hibernate' which generates a message that a 'dependency on hibernate.target failed'. Typing swapon -s or cat /proc/swaps I see: /dev/dm-2 partititon 25161724 0 -1 free -m gives me:

IMAP hibernate feature committed
http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.2/rev/64c73e6bd397 Today I finally committed the "imap-hibernate" feature that I first started developing about a year ago (and had been thinking about for several years before that). The main purpose here is to reduce the number of imap processes and the amount of memory they use by moving IDLEing connections into imap-hibernate processes where they are

Strange behaviour of iptables in centos 7
Hi strange behaviour of iptables on a centos 7.0 machine: The following rule is in the iptables of said machine: [root at myserver ~]# iptables -L -v -n --line-numbers |grep 175\. 9 9 456 DROP all -- * * 175.44.0.0/16 0.0.0.0/0 [root at myserver ~]# The corresponding enty in /etc/sysconfig/iptables looks like: [root at myserver ~]# grep 175 /etc/sysconfig/iptables

netbook screen suddenly goes black
Hi all! I'm running an up to date Centos-7 on my Acer Aspire One netbook. have been for, well, ever since C7 was released. Just had an event today that also happened 2 or 3 times with earlier systems installed, but I never pursued it. What happens is that suddenly while working away on the desktop the display suddenly goes black... not black as in turned off, I can see that the backlight is

[BUG] doveadm kick doesn't play well with hibernate
Hello, Dovecot 2.2.27 (Debian Jessie backports). When issuing a "doveadm kick" for a specific user I was greeted by: --- "warning: other connections would also be kicked from following users:" --- and a list of 22odd thousand users. As it turns out, kick wants to smack the hibernation proces(ses) that have hibernated sessions for this user, obviously the wrong approach here.

Power Fail Protection Update
Many thanks to those that responded to my original posting with information about Network UPS Tools and commercial UPS products. In our planning a path forward to implement UPS-based power fail protection, we have come across what appears to be an issue with the state of the CentOS 6 machines being UPS protected.? Most of these machines are desktop/deskside machines that are likely to be idle
