no way to reboot.
I could boot from a flashdrive and give a look at the boot

D series are 10 years or more old. ancient in laptop terms. I had a
D600 for a long time (new in 2003).
The E6x00, '10, '20, and '30 are also fairly old (2008, 2010, 2011, and
2012, respectively).
The current models branded like Latitude 15 5000, 14 7000, etc, are in

Add permission? (was How to create a write-only share?)
Need your help! I'm very confised and tired, tried a lot of variants
but still at the start, even lost all understanding how the
permissions and masks works.
Please write me a config for the following case:
There is a directory:
'/home/shared/door', owned by 'michael:office'
shared via samba as '[door]'
How can I configure the FS and samba to let 'michael'

What's wrong with yum-priorities?
"The upstream maintainer of yum, Seth Vidal, had the following to say
about 'yum priorities' in September 2009:
Gosh, I hope people do not set up yum priorities. There are so many things
about priorities that make me cringe all over. It could just be that it
reminds me of apt 'pinning' and that makes me want to hurl."

EADM & Warhammer Online
Under Winecfg, I set my "E:" (secondary hard drive designation from Windows) to be readable as "H:" by Wine.
I already have EADM installed in /media/disk/Program Files/Electronic Arts/EADM
(hard disik one).
When trying to load from terminal via "Wine" command it just calls up a screen when I tell it to execute "EADM/Core.exe" that complains it needs flash

user database clarification
Hi, this question gets back to a thread I started back on July 8th.
(gosh how time flies)
I still am not clear on why PAM is not supported for the user database.
I'm in an environment that has users both in local flat files
(/etc/passwd and /etc/shadow) AND in an LDAP database.
Is it possible for this set up to work with dovecot? (both local and
ldap users have imap/pop?)
I'd

upgraded old smb system to new release with a few errors
I moved an old smb system (version 2) over to a completely new system
with version 3.0.7 running on FC2. I just copied the config files over
and then ran swat and adjusted any problems that I found. Then save the
swat config and started the smb server. Gosh be Good! It worked just fine.
But...
I stared noticing entries like these in the logs:

I haven't done much with Folder Redirection yet (gosh, I really need to),
but are Junctions and Symlinks _generally_ redirected/transferred cleanly?

And we wouldn't be requiring it for cmake. My point was that cmake is
always easier to install:
* From binaries: a bit easier, since they are provided in http://www.cmake.org/
* From source: way easier than gcc.

Good Bye SAMBA?!?!?
Well
I was sad before, when said Linux do not have tools to sysadmins regard
samba and replicated file servers, like DFS.
Now I am really sad not only for this, but also for fellows throw me out to
the wolves...
Just because I change my mind....
