So far I am having smooth and functional experience with Kyocera multi-function devices. They connect easily to the main samba active directory domain controller and there is a decent Android app for wireless or network printing. PPD driver works in fedora but haven't tried with centOS yet. Scanning functionality works directly from the device interface or console so there is not much

time to say good-bye to win 7 / printer is the last blocker
I have picked up the HP LaserJet 1022n on eBay. It is black and white only, but works well with Linux and all versions of Windows I have available. They are generally inexpensive on eBay and the tone is cheap. I can get 4 toner cartridges for around $25 on eBay. It is small, dependable, and makes a good second printer. Most printing is usually black and white. I actually have 3 of them

I like the OKI MFC devices. For Printing they provide a PPD file which is all you need on Linux. For copying and scanning I do it directly on the device and scans are sent via FTP to my server.

Request for hplip upgrade
My wife purchased an HP Deskjet F340 all-in-one printer last year. CentOS 5 includes hplip-1.6.7. I need at least hplip-2.7.10 which I have had to install via tarball. Is there any plans to update this package soon? Thanks -- Bob Taylor

Network Scanner and CentOS 5.5
I have an HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One color printer. Printing works great, but I cannot get xsane to locate it on the local subnet. I've been to the sane site and looked at the backends. The HP 3210 is supported by hpio and there is a note that hpio is no longer needed because the functionality has been rolled int hplip. yum shows hplip is installed: hplip.x86_64 1.6.7-4.1.el5.4

Trouble setting up HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer on CentOS 7 + KDE

All the other machines in my office (server, desktops, workstation) are running Slackware64 14.1 or 14.2, and they can all use the printer perfectly. I installed hplip-gui and ran it. The printer is a network printer, it
