pidgin-sipe on Centos-6/64
Hi! Wondering if anyone here has been able to get the (3-rd party) SIPE plugin (pidgin-sipe) working on Centos-6 with the C6 version of pidgin? I've just started looking at it and after a little messing around have no joy. Before I waste more time on it I thought I'd ask. what I've done so far: --download the latest binary from the Suse build service, allegedly one built for EL-5.

Balsa problem
Wondering if anyone here has built Balsa for Centos-7. I've used it on Centos 5 and 6 for years, though I had to compile it myself. It compiles cleanly on c7, but when run I keep getting error messages that say "Failure to sync mailbox xxxx" that seem to happen when I try to view a mailbox that has new/unread mail, or perhaps it happens when a mailbox receives new mail whilei Balsa

Flash streams sound distorted
Hi gang! I'm hoping for some advice here,... I've been having this problem for a while and have come to the point where I need someone else's guidance/suggestions/help... I'm running a Cenotos-4 system. It was originally a TAO Linux-1 system, that was upgraded to Tao-4, and subsequently switched (via yum, using the procedure created by the Tao maintainer with--I

trouble playing quicktimes at apple.com/trailers
I've been able to view the movie trailers at apple.com/trailers for years on my old Centos box (5.3). so in July I built a new box and also used Centos 5.3. I recall being able to view them on the new box too, back in July. now, none of them work on either the old or new box. Firefox by default uses mplayer for this purpose. mplayer starts up, says it's playing it displays the url on the

Using GIMP on Centos-7, problem
Wondering if anyone here has ever tried installing this https://github.com/bootchk/resynthesizer as a gimp plugin in Centos-7, with gimp 2.8.16?? I find the installation instructions (for the binary tarball) are minimal and whatever I do, it doesn't seem to appear in the gimp menus, as it should. I've used an older version (0.14) from years ago in older versions of gimp, but how does

odd popups
Occasionally and without any action on my part, I get a popup saying I need to authenticate in order to read others' actions. I have no clue what this is for, so I always reject them. another bizarre thing...
Try checking your /var/log/messages for OOM killer log lines. If your machine is running low on memory the oom killer will start killing high memory usage programs. wine question
Before bothering the wine folks thought I'd ask here... On my fully-updated (fully operational battle station), er, centos box I seem to be able to use the Centos-released version of wine to run the software installers for quite a few apps. However, at no time during the installer do I actually see any text in any of the dialogs that appear. This makes it a little hard to choose options :)

remote syslog question
Hi all! I'm still googling for this, but after quite a while I'm no closer, so I figured I'd ask you guys: I've got my router using syslog on my centos box to log the router's system events. Works fine. however, it mixes 'em into /var/log/messages along with the messages from the Centos box itself. is there a way to separate them into itsown (set of??) files? So far

nameserver issue
Hi all! This question is, at best, somewhat peripheral to Centos, but I'm hoping to be forgiven, and that someone here can give me a clue. I've just brought up a nameserver on my household LAN, bind9 on a Raspberry Pi. The connection with Centos is this: my main desktop is C7, and its hardwired network is also manual, not dhcp. I've edited the ipv4 config (in NM) and changed the DNS

SATA on Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 MB
Hi Gang! I've got this (now old) Gigabyte motherboard (GA-7N400 Pro2), I've had it for just over 3 years. I use it, so far, with only PATA devices. I'm toying with the idea of buying a matched pair of SATA drives and when I install Centos 5 (hopefully soon), building it with software raid (using the two drives as mirrors of each other). Now, I wouldn't have ever even thought of
