Turning off wifi in CentOS 7
Someone else got the 7 pxe install going, and one thing that's annoying is that NetworkMangler appears to be regularly trying to fire up the wifi. On a workstation, in a wired environment. I just want to tell NM to knock it off....It's Monday, and my searching isn't going too well. Clues for the poor? mark

Gnome-shell memory
> Sounds like a hammer method. Is this issue already communicated to upstream (bugzilla)? I believe so - Gnome 3.28+ says even more memory fixes... I would think something like that they would rebase gnome again (hopefully before 7.7). But certainly not up to me. Jerry

Failed attempts
And if you're really security conscious consider using port knocking (knock server - amazingly easy to set up. Or use fwknop, a little more difficult to set up but not much. Finally, for the hard core who really like pain - write the iptables rules yourself). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pete Biggs" <pete at biggs.org.uk> To: "centos" <centos at

Samba4: error in schema?
Hi There seems to be a discrepancy in the s4 schema concerning security groups. Domain Users comes with gidNumber: 100. This is however contrary to what the schema allows. You can show this as follows: Create a new group. samba-tool group add mygroup. Use phpldapadmin to add the gidNumber attribute. There is an error because gidNumber is provided by the posixGroup class and that objectclass is

Log Level and Failed Authentication Attempts
Hello Samba Friends, For those of you who have had to sift through Samba logs for clues on how to determine what caused an account to lock after repeated failed logon attempts, what "log level" settings have you found to be most helpful? Error Upgrading Schema
In general we do not allow the removal of schema. In particular, because records in samba are stored under the attribute name, removing schema or renaming schema items describing those attributes and objectclasses can mean records cannot be processed correctly. However, if you confirm you really have exactly the entry already in the schema, you could edit the new schema not to add that

Expanding SSHKnock shell script, a few questions please
Hi all, Another Debian Etch fan here, running shorewall (shell) 3.2.6-2 (and Yes I''m going to upgrade when Lenny goes stable). I already have the SSHKnock working, as documented on the website: http://www.shorewall.net/PortKnocking.html Thanks, works great! In addition to the knock to open 22, I want to also ADD a redirect, from 2222 to 22 on an internal box. So, when I knock on 1600

X11 build
Morning... I have a package that I think wants to compile against the X11 source tree. http://openchrome.org - its a snapshot from there.... Anyway the command it tells me to run is: xmkmf /usr/src/xc make make install This is to build a updated X graphics driver... However when I do this I get errors as there is not /usr/src/xc (no surprise) I did then "up2date xorg-x11-sdk"

UEFI booting
I installed my first UEFI disk yesterday. Seemed to go fine. CentOS 7.6 x86_64 I then took that disk "out" of that machine and put it another machine - it seems to not even boot. I put the original disk back in that machine and it boots fine. I put the UEFI disk back in the machine I built it on and it works fine. They are similar machines either and i3 and i7. Shouldn't that work?
