Why not use yum mirrorlist= instead of baseurl= in CentOS-Base.repo
Currently the default yum configuration references mirror.centos.org. When yum looks up the IP address it finds several but it will only try one and fail if that server is down or does not have the headers for whatever reason. If yum were to reference a mirrorlist it would skip servers that fail and keep trying them all until it finds one that works or exhausts all the mirrors. Centos would

OT: Firefox SSL error on Linux, Firefox OK on Windows - same web site
Using CentOS 5.3 (32 bit) on my Desktop with Mozilla Firefox 3.0.12. With one web site (LinkShare) I am getting an SSL error, after clicking to get a more advanced report I do not get that error, using Mozilla Firefox 3.0.13 on M$ Windows and I get the report OK on Windows. It appears, when using Firefox on Linux, that it is not ending up on the LinkShare web site and Firefox is giving me the

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Weird, as all CentOS machines under my control are suddenly giving the baseurl of Base repo not found error since this morning. Could be that mirrorlist is leading but all other options I found online to debug the error message seem to indicate that (un)commenting should fix it. Hi, I have the x86_64 arch on my server so therfore i expect that yum updates only x86_64 packages. With the last *yum update* i?ve noticed a strange behaviour while retrieving the needed packeges. As you you see, yum wants install packages for different architectures: glibc x86_64 2.3.4-2.25 base 4.9 M glibc i686 2.3.4-2.25 base 5.1 M . .

New CentOS7 Install Yum will not work
Hi Everyone: I have been fighting this all morning. I did a new (several) installs of CentOS7. Yum will not update the system. I have disabled ipv6, set yum.conf to use IPv4 only, disabled firewalld, disabled selinux, used both static ip and dhcp for network connectivity. I can ping any where on the Internet, including the mirrors, DNS works and ensured the base URL line was uncommented. Any
