What is the proper place for GDM related dconf settings now?
Hello, It seems that with CentOS 7.6 and Gnome 3.28, a clean install of a Workstation package profile does not build the /etc/dconf/db/gdm.d/ directory tree. I have several desktops in operation which we kickstart built with an older 7.3/4/5 version of CentOS as the base install media. These all have a dconf directory for gdm, and I assume a dconf profile directory for gdm as well (though I

What is the proper place for GDM related dconf settings now?
Mr. Pearson, Thanks for that, I do not have a RH support account. I will put in the scripting to ensure the directory is there. I can confirm that after putting it in there manually everything seems to work correctly. That said, I guess I'm interested in the "design" choice and if there isn't a more appropriate place to stick this type of config under the new

Changing gdm background
Anyone know how to do $SUBJECT? I've tried running both gnome-control- center and dconf as the gdm user, but neither one had any effect. CentOS 7 + Xfce + GDM : disable "switch user" ?
Hi, I have CentOS 7 + Xfce + GDM installed on all our local school's desktop clients. I'd like to disable the "switch user" menu entry, since our desktop clients have a relatively limited amount of RAM. Most users tend to use the "switch user" functionality to log off, and at the end of the day, the computer has no RAM left. I know there is a way to disable this

Custom user profile for GNOME 3?
Hi, I wonder where - and eventually how - GNOME 3 stores its user preferences. I'd like to create a custom user profile, with slightly different settings than the default ones: * don't show home folder on ~/Desktop * don't show Trash * use custom default wallpaper * stretch wallpaper instead of zooming * use different default icon theme * etc. Until now I've done this

CentOS 7.5 (1804) and NetworkManager
Hi, I'm running CentOS on all kinds of setups: servers, workstations, desktops and laptops. Up until now, I'm only using NetworkManager on laptops, since it makes sense to use it there. On servers and desktop clients, I usually remove it and configure the network "traditionally" by simply editing /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-whatever, /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/hosts,

Loading GNOME with GDM
Hi, We have a few PC with CentOS 4 installed. By default, it runs to runlevel 5, which displays the GDM. I'm just wondering, how do I actually make the GDM to start GNOME automatically (after a successful login) for all normal user account without having to add 'exec gnome-session' in every user's ~/.xinitrc? The current scenario is, only successful 'root' logins starts

problem with gdm
Hi folks, I just used cvsup to upgrade my system to 4.8 stable. Now I have problem with gdm. When I have logged in as other user, I will log in as root. That happens when I automatically start gdm after booting. But if I start gdm myself after boot, I won't have this problem. I don't know why. Does somebody have the same problem before? Thanks! Peng
