2 Linux boxes, failover, & 1 EXT3 RAID unit
Hello, Setup: ------ I have two RedHat 7.2 (2.4.9-31) boxes that are attached to one external RAID unit. Both boxes are able to see the RAID unit as /dev/sdb1, but only one box mounts (cat /proc/mounts yields: /dev/sdb1 /nas ext3 rw 0 0) the unit at any give time. The other box listens, via heartbeat (linux-ha), waiting to mount the RAID unit, should it''s sibling crash (actually,

LMTP crashing heavily for my 2.2.36 installation
Hi, I'm running 2.2.36 (as provided by openSUSE in their server:mail repository) and at least at one of my systems LMTP is crashing regularly on certain messages (apparently a lot of them). How to make a network interface come up automatically on link up?
I have a recently installed Mellanox VPI interface in my server. This is an InfiniBand interface, which, through the use of adapters, can also do 10GbE over fiber. I have one of the adapter's two ports configured for 10GbE in this way, with a point to point link to a Mac workstation with a Myricom 10GbE card. I've configured this interface on the Linux box (eth2) using

Delete file on destination only if source was delete at least X days before.
Hello everybody, I've been looking for a way to use rsync with the --del option but checking the data of the file as well. What I'm after is a way to backup NAS1 to NAS2, literally copying everything, but asking rsync not to delete data on NAS2 not present on NAS1 if the source was removed less than e.g. 60 days ago. Perhaps a cross checking between the file/dir date and the system

Shared Mailboxes in a multi domain environment
Hi, I would like to enable mailbox sharing for my users. I'm using dovecot 2.1.9 with vpopmail authentication. For security reason shared mailboxes should be available only for users of the same domain. Dovecot's wiki suggest to enable acl like this: plugin { # assumes mailboxes are in /var/mail/%d/%n: acl_shared_dict = file:/var/mail/%d/shared-mailboxes.db } but in vpopmail,

Failover problems with gluster 3.8.8-1 (latest Debian stable)
I'm using gluster for a virt-store with 3x2 distributed/replicated servers for 16 qemu/kvm/libvirt virtual machines using image files stored in gluster and accessed via libgfapi. Eight of these disk images are standalone, while the other eight are qcow2 images which all share a single backing file. For the most part, this is all working very well. However, one of the gluster servers

unable to source a .R file using RJava
I am unable to source a ".R" file using RJava. I tried a couple of different tests: 1) using java and the evaluation method core dumps 2) using ./RJava --example --gui-none to invoke source core dumps. 3) The line of R works if I go directly thru R and not RJava. Version info and code are below. Any help would be appreciated. --Laura O'Brien Applications

linking against the static libraries
We would like to use the static libraries in our commercial software. This software is an MFC application which is statically linked to the MFC libraries. We added LibFLAC_static.lib and LibFLAC++_static.lib but this causes an error when trying to run our application ('A required file was missing MSVCRTXX.DLL'). After looking in the Project Settings of the FLAC source, I found that the

RE: basic encoder help
I'm currently facing the same problem. I added the libFLAC++ libraries to my MSVC application. I implemented the same quality levels (0-8) as used in the FLAC frontend application. But the resulting files are remarkable different between my application and the FLAC frontend (although using the same settings). for example: FLAC frontend (quality = 8) --------------------------------

Using rsync to backup user redirected documents on ReadyNAS
Hello, Using Samba 4.4 as a DC on Ubuntu 12.04LTS. Users 'My Documents' are redirected to a member server running Samba 4.1.17 on Debian Wheezy. I joined the ReadyNAS to the DC and set permissions using file explorer. When I ssh to the ReadyNAS, I see the following on the folder destination. *drwxrwx---+ 1 administrator domain admins 20 Apr 1 10:55 pfms1* The rsync syntax and

[SUMMARY] 2 Linux boxes, failover, & 1 EXT3 RAID
Hello, Many warm thank yous to Bill Rugolsky Jr. and Stephen Tweedie for their help on this one. Both pointed out that since the file system is journaled, if the primary box (nas1) were to crash, the secondary box should mount the ext3 file system without any problems. Depending on the nature of the journal (metadata journaling and/or data journaling), we may have little or no data loss. Bill

Failover problems with gluster 3.8.8-1 (latest Debian stable)
Well, it looks like I've stumped the list, so I did a bit of additional digging myself: azathoth replicates with yog-sothoth, so I compared their brick directories. `ls -R /var/local/brick0/data | md5sum` gives the same result on both servers, so the filenames are identical in both bricks. However, `du -s /var/local/brick0/data` shows that azathoth has about 3G more data (445G vs 442G) than

Samba seem to work fine but "cannot find my workgroup"
Wow, thank you so much for your instant reply! I added it and executed "smbcontrol all reload-config", but the message keeps appearing. Should I kill and disable nmbd? I see such a process running.
