C 7 installation annoyances
*** This response is my personal opinion and may not reflect that of my employer. *** It seems recent updates to Anaconda and in particular Blivet in the CentOS 7 .iso are restricting things rather than expanding the options. We have a scenario where we are doing a CentOS 6 to CentOS 7 upgrade (replacement) using a backup partition to hold the install image. Over the years, as we added cloud

The EL7 partitioner is a complete disaster and I regularly bitch about it on twitter and irc. You could try to convince it with kickstart and bypass the GUI altogether. Another option is to boot in a Live CD and do you partitioning from there either manually or via Gparted and hope these changes will be picked up by the EL7 installer so you can just use them as they are. hth -- Sent from the

libguestfs preview for RHEL 7.4
With the release of RHEL 7.3 happening today, fixing 88 reported bugs in libguestfs and virt-v2v, and countless other ones, it's time to look ahead to RHEL 7.4. Again we intend to rebase libguestfs, virt-v2v and virt-p2v: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1359086 1359086 NEW Rebase libguestfs in RHEL 7.4 To help with testing I have set up a preview repository here:

Re: [PATCH] launch: Close file descriptors after fork (RHBZ#1123007).
Hi Richard, I see this patch is included into libguestfs >= 1.26.6 & libguestfs >= 1.27.24. I feel that version is too high. Now RHEL 7.0 runs libguestfs-1.22.6, RHEL 6.6 alpha and 6.5 runs libguestfs-1.20.11. Is that possible to backport this patch, in order to make this problem fixed in RHEL 7.0, 6.6, and 6.5? Thanks & Best Regards Qin Zhao (赵钦) China System and Technology Lab,

anaconda, kickstart, lvm over raid, logvol --grow, centos7 mystery
I am testing some kickstarts on ESXi virtual machine with pair of 16GB disks. Partitioning is lvm over raid. If i am using "logvol --grow i get "ValueError: not enough free space in volume group" Only workaround i can find is to add --maxsize=XXX where XXX is at least 640MB less than available. (10 extents or 320Mb per created logical volume) Following snippet is failing with

Q: how can I request to add an upstream patch to resolve a core dump issue?
UPDATE: It turned out QEMU still dumped core with that patch applied. That said, I'm still interested to know how to report issues with QEMU from centos-virt repo. MP4/H.264 codec for Firefox?
Hello, I am trying to get MP4/H.264 playback in Firefox to work on my CentOS laptop (for vimeo). I installed the gstreamer plugins as described here: https://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/MultimediaOnCentOS7 (No, I did not install Flash, VLC and all the other stuff. I only want HTML5 MP4 playback..) I enabled the nux repos. I did install all available gstreamer plugins, i.e. -good -bad

[PATCH] launch: Close file descriptors after fork (RHBZ#1123007).
This refactors existing code to close file descriptors in the recovery process, and also adds code to close file descriptors between the fork() and exec() of QEMU or User-Mode Linux. The reason is to avoid leaking main process file descriptors where the main process (or other libraries in the main process) are not setting O_CLOEXEC at all or not setting it atomically. Python is a particular

Upgrading glibc on CentOS 7 to fix memory leak
Hi All, I am in a bit of a conundrum I hope someone could give me some advice. I have a CentOS 7 server which currently runs glibc version 2.17.x. That version contains a memory leak described and fixed here: https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17370 Suffice to say, this memory leak is causing some serious issues and I have read that upgrading glibc without also upgrading the entire
